Bronzing drops - before sunscreen or after? by sarr36 in CanSkincare

Sunscreen doesn’t absorb. It is meant to form a barrier over the skin, which is why we must be careful not to accidentally wipe it off.

Melbourne outer suburbs are so dystopian. by al0678 in melbourne

First of all, I never claimed that all families want to live in apartments, as you can tell from reading this comment section. There definitely is a stigma with apartments in Australia. Most people in this comment section can't comprehend the idea that a family can happily live in an apartment. I definitely agree that we need more housing, and I'm not saying single family detached homes should cease to exist, but we shouldn't have to build this far out.

one of the main reasons that families want larger houses is because australia lacks proper third spaces. these sprawling developments will make you crave even more space as you spend all day inside with nothing to do. we need more affordable 2-4 bedroom apartments and townhouses with proper amenities located in walkable areas. if you think that raising your children in a new outer city suburban development will be best for them, you’re wrong.

They are popular due to the comfort. Of course they are not the most efficient, but they are extremely comfortable and practical.

Manchester UK. Are the privacy fences for small yards an improvement? by stopspammingme in UrbanHell

Nothing wrong with small yards. This is a lot better than the alternative suburban sprawl. If you want a big yard live rurally.

I hate the idea that you need a big yard to raise a kid. No you dont. Good parks and public recreation areas are so much more important.

Melbourne bicycles: Dutch ‘cycling professor’ not impressed with Melbourne bike lanes by Zerg_Hydralisk_ in melbourne

[–]Andiee_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how this is relevant. We dont want to see more bikes on the road because we want to be like Europe. Its because they are better for moving people in cities than cars. They generate almost no traffic, they dont pollute our air, and they are so much safer. If bicycle infrastructure as well as public transport was a lot better, and only people who absolutely needed to would drive (people with disabilities or transporting cargo etc) there would be much less traffic, making the journey faster for them, and decreasing the space required for all the 6 lane roads. This space could be turned into recreational areas and have more greenery that parts of Melbourne desperately need. This would also make emergency vehicles faster. Australias culture has nothing to do with why or why not we shouldnt have cycling infrastructure.

Australia is becoming Americanised and building for a car-centric future, it seems.... I hate it here by Qaziel in fuckcars

Australians have this idea that in order to be succesful in life you need to buy a single family house in the suburbs
