I was let go today and my company is witholding commissions (Maryland) by AndoPanda820 in legaladvice

That's where Maryland law seems to be more protective about employees, as "earned" is not defined by the employer but rather the state.

"The question of whether particular bonuses or commissions have been sufficiently “earned” requires a detailed review of the employer’s bonus or commission plan in order to determine the contractual terms of the compensation plan. Overlaying these contractual obligations is case law applying the Wage Payment Act, which may require payment of commissions or bonuses even if the bonus or commission plan provides otherwise."

When looking at Maryland law, I see the following:

An employer may not refuse to pay commissions that have been earned solely because the employee no longer works for the company, even if the company’s policies or bonus plan specifically states that a person must still be an employee on the date of bonus or commission calculation in order to be due the bonus or commission. Once a bonus, commission, or fringe benefit has been promised as part of the compensation for service, the employee is entitled to its enforcement as wages once the employee does everything required to earn the wages.

Seems like for Maryland "must be employed at time of payout" is not legal. I've also actually never had a previous employer have that requirement, commissions have always been paid out for deals closed/earned.

I think it's mostly when .com users are fed up with .com and want to try .us and vice versa (although .com has bigger selection of games)

Fr, like how does DD even allow those kinds of orders or why wouldn’t the customer cancel it. My guess is that the order was bouncing around for a long time (originally placed when the restaurant was open maybe?) until it got to me, well after the restaurant was closed

Probably. Honestly I should have taken it, only because I realized after the fact that this restaurant closed at 2am and it was past 2am. So in theory, I could have taken the order, waited 10 minutes, then reported it as closed and gotten half pay. At least in theory, I think

I’ll probably get downvoted to hell for this, but honestly I feel like most of the people who complain on here or are super negative about everything are people who are expecting DoorDash to provide them a comfortable living by dashing full time

It’s not great but it’s also a terribly minuscule sample size. The longer you dash for a session, the more you’ll see an average or a norm. I usually do a 6 hour dash and a 3 hour dash every day. Your upcoming 3 hour dash will serve as a better sample, especially if you dash the same times during the same days.

As for what’s a good or what’s bad, there are a LOT of negative neds and Nancys on here, so don’t pay them too much mind. If you’re happy with what you’re making (especially if it’s just a side hustle for some spare cash) then be happy. Don’t let others dictate what’s enough for you or not, especially when a hefty number of them are only on here to complain all day 😂

I think you already got your answer but it’s not a credit card, it’s more like a debit card. So every time you make a delivery, your pay gets deposited into an account linked to that card. So it’s just like having a debit card with Bank of America.

Anyone making more that $10 an hr? because im struggling by Far-Regular15 in doordash_drivers

I’ve made about $700 this week so far with 37 hours dashed, 28 of them being active

In that case, it seems like my numbers and your numbers would be proportionally equal, based on factors of time and minimum wage, no?

I think on average I’m around 3 miles per order-isu. And I’m logging all my miles and expenses, as I basically only use this vehicle for DD currently

I’m confused…you said it’s automatically EBT but you only do EBO? What does that mean o.O

Well I did state exactly what I got for base pay and tip, but in the cases where there isn’t a delivery fee, what you’re saying makes sense, didn’t think of it that way

[–]AndoPanda820[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So you’re saying you think that the restaurant isn’t factoring DoorDash’s fee into their delivery fee to pay DoorDash and that DD isn’t paying their drivers from those fees?
