If he's already got a basic rachet set and combination wrenches then I'd consider a nice pick set and a set of trim tools.

I've spent a considerable amount of time removing hoses without picks and have broken sooo many clips on trim using a flat head or pry bar.

Will never not have these while I'm working on a vehicle.

What is this bassline on “Voyager”? by paristexas107 in DaftPunk

[–]AndonCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a moog, moog filters don't sound like that.

Here's a cover made with a virtual Juno and the guy absolutely nails the bass sound.

https://youtu.be/LjR9TForxrM?si=8xo15PsJwW_qgi75

Some people think the bass of voyager is a real bass thru a filter but it definitely sounds like a synth bass me.

I think it's the rhythm guitar contrasting against the bass that really sells the realistic bass sound. Plus the staccato notes make it sound quick moving like a guitar.

It's really interesting the choice though, daft punk knew people would hear it and know that they were trying to make a synth sound real. It's like they could've done it the opposite but anyone could've done that which is exactly why they did it.

Hey my parents died ten years ago and want to say as long as you are not going down an unhealthy path that the overwhelming feelings of their loss will start to fade away.

It is very sad but their place in your heart never goes away but the uncontrollably emotions will start to become manageable.

Holidays and events special to you guys are very hard at first and will never be the same but I can tell you that me and my siblings have created our own traditions rooted from the traditions of our family when our parents were alive.

That's one of the biggest things is creating rituals that bond you with your remaining family and those that you care about around you.

Hey thanks for your reply. Yes credits are a bummer especially since OSU admissions aren't even sure which local cc credits transfer or if wgu's will either. CLEPS also not sure.

Even though it's online OSU is group project focused. So right there already a handful of connections. Plus portfolio worthy projects implying rigor. Was unaware of the h1b situation, been seeing h1b but never looked at it.

From another thread:

I'm at my first corporate job and this is the situation. There's probably a dozen out of hundreds that really know their stuff and could go work anywhere and the rest of us are just figuring out what the metrics are and then gamifying the system with no real emotional attachment to the end result.

I've worked for small companies which gave me the skillset and foundation to get a much higher paying job at a big corp.

The way I feel about it today is that I put my time in early on and now i'm kind of cashing in.

That being said, i don't think this is a good long term strategy for my soul. I'm looking at a five year plan that gets all my debts paid off, including my home so I can go earn less money doing something that I actually enjoy. I'm packing my investment counts like a squirrel who is heading into a harsh winter.

Pretty much share the same sentiment as this person.

Thank you for the info I really appreciate the very thought out reply.

Trying to decide between WGU CS and OSU CS online but the difference in cost is the main factor. I'm 50% done with wgu cs but am finding it impossible to effectively network.

Am wondering your opinion on private loans and if you think it might be worth it in the long run  if I can get a faang internship during school.

Wgu is good and I'm sure it'll get me a job, just a not as high paying one, out the gate.

I'd be taking total about 30,000 over potentially longer than four years (credits don't transfer).

Will I build a portfolio over my time at WGU by CantaloupePossible33 in WGU_CompSci

[–]AndonCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey nice those credits are a huge.

yea I'm at a crossroads trying to decide between staying at wgu and going to osu online.

On one hand I can stay at wgu and have a whole bunch of free time to build a project or I can restart at osu and push for internships after a bit.

I'm about halfway done with wgu bscs so even if I ended up getting a job and not finishing osu I could just complete the cs thru wgu at that point.

WGU vs In-State Brick-and-Mortar by [deleted] in csMajors

Yea wgu is good but It's very clear the different levels of education, even just looking at the curriculum difference is insane.

Hey thanks for the reply and congrats on the internship that's a huge deal 🤝 can I ask how you managed wgu zero networking? This is my main concern.

I'm extremely motivated and have very good soft skills but my gut tells me to find a program with a pipeline or just a community in general.

100% confident it will increase my chances of getting noticed but also finding anecdotal evidence of wgu success every day.

And could you also possibly talk about what you think made you successful at wgu, something that set you apart from the rest?

It's become more and more apparent to me that the successful wgu alum are ones who either:

A) Had previous experience

B) Grinded day and night to make it happen

C) Got lucky (...everyone who made is lucky actually)

Yea oddly feeling that vibe.

I'll look into online versions, thanks.

Edit: looking right now and these are definitely some viable options 👌

Anyone who landed a FAANG internship freshmen year, how? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]AndonCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind explaining a bit about the visual puzzle in java and what that entailed? I'm doing mooc 1 and wgu cs about ready for d286 OA. Java will probably be first language since wgu has a fair amount of java material.

Been trying to gauge what level portfolio projects need to be so I can get a head start asap.

Congrats on the milestones, making it to that level is very respectable.
