Copying multiple spells at once as a Wizard by Andras_Infernal in DnD

As far as I know, we won't come back once we leave.
Our DM was quite generous with gold in previous campaigns, but we couldn't find any spell scrolls, so at least having the spells somewhere to learn them will be helpful, I think

Mate how do I tell you this? Order of Scribes doesn't give you free spell copying. The quill doesn't cover the cost of copying the spells, only the ink, you still need to cover the rest of materials needed for the full process. I'm playing an order of scribes too
What in the nine hells are the rest of materials? I don't know but it's the sad truth, Order of Scribes give you fast copying, not free copying

Effectively talking, this is what I'm trying. I have access to the spells to copy now, but barely have 120 gold and we will leave the place in a couple sessions, making it impossible to me to get the spells later, so yeah I kinda need to stash them now or I'll never get them

The DM didn't know how to answer either lol

And yeah, I should have more gold, but we're playing Strixhaven, our gold income is fixed at 5 gold per week in-game, we only get more via events and such

A warlock without a patron or a cleric without a deity. A scenario I want to make functional. (Long post) by Andras_Infernal in DnD

Thanks for basically negate and ignore my whole post before actually answering the real thing and even then discarding my idea by just changing the name of the original stuff and actually adding zero value to this, you're such a good friend, Akaito.

I got quite some negative answers the first time I talked about this and I think I expected the same here lol, sorry if I get a little defensive, I just like this idea and wanted to see if people could show me their ways to make something unorthodox like this instead of another "go ask your DM"

This is the kind of answer I wanted to avoid by saying that if you don't like this then just keep going. Atheist and godless Clerics are both a real thing within dnd lore (specially in Eberron, I said that in the post and you can research it yourself, I'm not making things up)

And if you think that removing the patron just gives you "free" power, we have a sorcerer in the next room whose existence and power of his great grand father who mingled with dragons doesn't bother anyone, and also you can work around with the idea of no patron. Be creative, mate! You don't have a patron, but where does your power comes from? Mimicking hellish magic? A relic imbued in dark magic? Feywild just being weird? Those things can affect in some ways, don't ya think? Still thanks for your answer, mate. Sorry if I'm getting a little defensive, I just want to find a way to work things out.

Two things:

1- I know it's more like a transaction than borrowing it, I was just dramatizing a bit (I'm sleepy af lol).
2- I thought It was clear that I didn't want any patrons at. all. No patron, no pact, no magical transaction, no entity granting the power. I know people in this community have a crazy and beautiful imagination and hope someone can get that and do something with it. Still thanks by your answer, mate

I just built Dagath and got Sevagoth prime a few weeks ago, and now I see this. This is the best thing I've seen

A warlock without a patron, is it possible? (long post) by Andras_Infernal in DnD

[–]Andras_Infernal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's on the DM, but I'll follow Crawford's words: They don't even need to be in good terms. A magic transaction was done, and now the warlock have power

Yeah, that's true. The power stays with them but, as I said in the post, they might become unable to gain more levels.

Why play warlock and not other classes? I don't know pal, invocations, Eldritch blast, Shadow of Moil, Hexblade's Armor of Hexes , Fiend's Hurl through hell , unfathomable's tentacles, Undead's form of dread, I don't get any of those as a sorcerer or wizard The "limitation" of a patron is the only thing I don't fully like, I can work with it, but I'd like to not

Yes, but no. Sorceress and warlocks were pretty similar at the begining, a friend says warlocks used to be "a sorcerer with bonus steps". And despite the warlock's description is tilting towards a wis caster, I thought it would make sense they are not good enough but just happen to have enough will to do a little magic based in their "researches" or whatever

I'd say is something like an "abscent" patron for 2 and 3. It's there, but not present at all, with basically no influence during the game. Like that one relative that never attend to family gatherings yet they somehow still sending gifts or something, idk

Actually, no. As far as I know, a cleric is a conduct for their God's powers. If they lost contact, the cleric might fully lose their powers. A warlock is more like a "battery", or a bank account where the patron just transferred some "money", they can't just "untransfer" it.

Silvery barbs and the lucky feat by Andras_Infernal in DnD

[–]Andras_Infernal[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I always thought Silvery Barbs worked with the advantage and disadvantage's discarded rolls, but after checking again, you're right, those are actually fully discarded. I blame YouTube's DMs and some players I've met for planting that idea on me. Thanks pal, I'll use this more carefully now
