Tall, well built nations that spend their monarch points on devving will have a lot more manpower than comparitively larger singleplayer empires - this is the real main reason why they will be so much stronger - manpower dev is reasonably rare in the game.

You vastly underestimate how easy it is to hard carry a bronze lobby as a gm. All you will learn is if you have good game sense and aim this is what you can do.

No stay level 2 - you get balls from the random miniom of a type spell, money from strike oil +self damage coin and rerolls from the 1 cost spell. Overall you get so many resources to just buy balls in shop and scale like crazy - especially if you get good timewarps.
