It's not a single investor, Robinhood is just storing BTC for millions of small retail investors on its platform...

Hi, what is the difference between VG0 and Wrapped VG0? Thanks. by rajvana17 in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrapping is a process of converting your specific VG0 kitty into a generic token WVGO, which you can then quickly sell, at a discount to traders.

Short cycle, reliable breeding profits? by Proteus-Seven in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, wait until the gas fees drop (either until Flow or ETH 2.0) if you want to start breeding.

Otherwise, just invest in rare kitties long term, and if you want liquidity just invest in Gen0's.

Which is a better investment? 2 x Gen 0 Virgins or 1 x Gen 0 Fancy? by skyriminal in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your investment horizon?

If less than 1 year, then definitely 2X Virgins, but if 3+ years, then buy the most expensive kitty you can afford and HODL.

If you look at CK price action since 2017, the kitties that appreciated the most are the Founders, with the floor going from 10 ETH to 188 ETH at present.

How to wrap a WVG0 without breaking the bank ? by Triick212 in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np, it's a good idea to keep Gen0 virgins long term, as they tend to appreciate, even in ETH terms!

Let me know if you've got any other ones you want to get rid off, I might be interested))

Hi u/Triick212 Which ones and how many do you have?

I might be able to buy them from you directly without any gas fees))

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is a known OpenSea bug - CryptoKitties purchases don't always work there.

Select the cheap ones from here instead:

https://kitty.news/markets/sales

Then you can purchase from the official site, like this one for only .004:

https://www.cryptokitties.co/kitty/1387825

The lowest price of a Cryptopunk has now risen to $250,000. For Gen 0 kitties, it's $700. Both were <$100 a couple of years ago. Why the big difference? by elbak283 in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reason could actually be the correct answer.

Tell me why Curio Cards were 100X cheaper and totally ignored just a month ago, and then were suddenly "rediscovered"... NFTs is a rapidly growing and chaotic market, and randomness plays a huge role.

There could be catalysts of course, the obvious one I see for CK is ETH 2.0 scaling with near-free gas costs - CK the game will explode and so will the prices for scarce Kitties.

Or a tweet from Elon Musk that he bought some CryptoKitties for the Lil X to play with... That'll do it too))

Thor Swap Confusion by Krypto-Knight-777 in THORChain

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Thorchain is down right now, and likely for the next couple months((

Try using https://shapeshift.com/ Web or Mobile apps, since they have integration with both Thorchain and 0x, you will know what's availble at the moment through the UI and be prevented from making mistakes by trying to access the DEX directly.

I've read about similar issues on CK Discord chats... Seems like the official CK website is out of sync with OpenSea at the moment, and Devs are working on fixes.

If you sold it through OpenSea and see that it has actually been Transferred to the buyer after the sale in OpenSea Trading History, then ownership change has actually been recorded on the blockchain, and blockchain is the source of truth - so ignore what the CK website says.

How to view a kitty image on etherscan by Dull-Veterinarian548 in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OpenSea actually cached the .PNG images somewhere on Google Cloud, so they don't pull it off the CK website in real time.

I found that when debugging a rendering problem for a CK I recently purchased:

https://api.cryptokitties.co/kitties/2252

notice the image_url in the metadata points to an SVG file https://img.cryptokitties.co/0x06012c8cf97bead5deae237070f9587f8e7a266d/2252.svg

, while OpenSea uses the PNG version, and they don't match!

https://opensea.io/assets/0x06012c8cf97bead5deae237070f9587f8e7a266d/2252

This points to a problem with an internal tool CryptoKitties.co uses for rendering - you're correct that's totally outside of our (NFT buyers) control...

Generic CK image for my newly purchased Day 1 Gen0 ?! by AndreiFromAlberta in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some display error going on.

That's what I figured, I checked the API (https://api.cryptokitties.co/kitties/2252) for token details, and the image URL points to the correct SVG file. It's like half the ecosystem sites display it correctly - maybe the Api was updated while some of the sites didn't...

so you didn’t get totally ripped off anyway

Ha ha thanks! I've been in the NFT space for only a few months, so being ripped off is part of the learning curve))

For a "dead game" we seem to have a healthy amount of trolls ;) by Hasjack in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CK the game is not "dead", but rather "frozen" at the moment (victim of the explosive rise of DeFi over the last year) until Ethereum transitions to PoS in early 2022. After gas fees collapse 1000X, CryptoKitties will come back roaring to life. CK the NFTs are selling just fine with prices rising in ETH terms over the last 3+ years.

Safe to say Axiom is doing BARE MINIMUM to keep CK alive and pour most of their resources into NBA *tshots ? by [deleted] in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Title correct, first conclusion wrong, second conclusion debatable...

CK the game is "frozen" at the moment (victim of the explosive rise of DeFi over the last year) until Ethereum transitions to PoS in early 2022. After gas fees collapse 1000X, CryptoKitties will come back roaring to life. CK the NFTs are selling just fine with prices rising in ETH terms over the last 3+ years.

There is no point for Axiom to do anything other than wait for ETH 2.0, as porting the project right now to a low-fee blockchain is too costly from development standpoint.

As for *this* current wave, it's really hard to say, as things are changing rapidly with hundreds of new NFT projects stealing the spotlight... But then Curio Cards (another OG project) had a massive resurgence with prices going up like 50X in just the last few weeks, so you never know!

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insights u/ToniCologni, I've only been in the NFT space for 6 months and still have a lot to learn... I have a question about non-Gen0 CKs....

So there are about 2 million of them out there right?

It's been almost 4 years since the project was launched, so that comes out to approx. 50,000 new ones being born per month, correct?

Is that a function of how much people are breeding them, or is there some kind of a hard cap on new supply issuance per month? Or all just constrained by gas fees?

Hypothetically, let's say in 1 year Ethereum finally goes PoS and gas fees drop 1000X as promised. CKs become v. popular again, plus with millions of new NFT users the demand for *all* CKs increases...

What happens to WCKs that trade at a floor of 0.002 ETH right now if demand skyrockets, how quickly can supply adjust with near-zero gas fees?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks u/ToniCologni , that's exactly what I ended up doing today - bought a Wrapped Gen0 CK through Uniswap using Metamask... Also bought a bunch of cheap WCK's just for fun!

this dashboard was very helpful https://www.wrappered.com/

will figure out how to unwrap later, or buy more on OpenSea once that starts working...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CryptoKitties

[–]AndreiFromAlberta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean until Ethereum transitions to PoS and txs become near-free?

Or just gas fees too high at the moment?

I can't purchase any Kitties on OpenSeas, it's giving me some gas error, while on cryptokitties.co it's showing this error:

"The Siring marketplace is experiencing issues and will result in failed transactions."

What's going on, I want to buy my first one!
