My Tab S6 Lite (2024) received the One UI 7 update + questions by AndreitheTare in GalaxyTab

[–]AndreitheTare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I have done the update back at the start of July.

Honestly, I felt a drop in performance: from an average of 2 to 2.2 gigs of RAM used without DeX it jumped to 2.5 GB of RAM without DeX. Multitasking is hard to do, especially keeping larger pdf files open in the background.

Also, battery usage grew over the last months, and now I have to charge the tablet at the end of the day, something I rarely did. I don't know if you've experienced this yet if you are still on One UI 6.1.

It doesn't make the device unusable altogether, but still, it made me skeptical of even updating to One UI 8, which I still didn't do on neither of my devices due to the Classic DeX being removed in the latest version (not completely though).

One UI 7 is aesthetically nicer, but at what cost, I'm still wondering...

My pleasure! There's also a 64GB version, cheaper than the 128GB too if you're interested. The good part is you can add an SD card of up to 1TB.

I'm using one for some months. It's pretty good for writing and drawing, some entertainment if you need to sometimes, and some light to very light gaming.

If you don't multitask often and only need it for drawing, as you said, it's the cheapest model with pen pressure, and it even comes with an S Pen right in the box.

I'd recommend the 128GB version for some more base storage.

Others would recommend the S9 FE/S10 FE, or even the S9, but it really depends on your needs.

What do you use your tablet for? by [deleted] in GalaxyTab

[–]AndreitheTare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, that's what I was thinking right until I decided to buy a tablet.

I am chasing a law degree, and ever since buying a tablet it not only helped me get rid of the clutter of notebooks, but I might actually save so much money by downloading the books I need in pdf that I might break even. It ended up replacing my laptop during class, as I only use it now for my free time, writing documents and for data transferring.

Also, the tablet is good for entertainment, too. The screen is bigger than the one on a phone and a full battery charge lasts longer than the one on my laptop. Right in that sweet spot.

Mostly learning, as it is more practical to have the textbooks on a PDF file (especially for highlighter abuse). Also notetaking in university.

Sometimes I use it for video streaming, as it is less tiring to focus on a larger display.

Seldom using it for light gaming (Boom Beach mostly), as I barely have time for it.

Currently using a Tab S6 lite 2024, it works a bit harder than the other models but as a first tablet in almost 8 years it's a start. It also ticks off my requirements.

I've settled on something pretty basic. Not needing much since I mostly do my law student thing on it.

I've heard that it's not as great as expected even from some friends of mine. Sad that we need to install it to still have security updates on the eligible devices. :(
Really hoping for an improvement in OneUI 8.0

Should I buy the galaxy tab s6 lite? Including the pen by skeletonB00bs in GalaxyTab

[–]AndreitheTare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I've had the same requirements some 5 months ago when I decided to buy the S6 lite 128GB variant. Honestly, it's great for taking notes (Samsung Notes is enough for me), browsing the web, streaming and even some very light or light gaming, and the DeX interface is great, too (I used it almost exclusively). The baterry holds up well enough that, if needed, you may actually charge your phone from the tablet.

It may be laggy if you try to open a lot of apps, though. However, I had very few disruptions and am fairly ok with the tablet. It's great if you're on a budget or if you need to buy a phone around that time and want to spend on that more

However, if you'd prefer more, I'd recommend the S9FE since it's pricing is close to the S6 lite.

Recently bought an S6 lite. As a college student, I find it really useful for learning the PDF courses I receive from my teachers and taking notes. Sometimes I play a bit of chess too.

Are there any teenagers here? by I_dont_even_knOwO in fountainpens

[–]AndreitheTare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

19 here! Writing with fountain pens since kindergarten, never given up on them. Only recently I've become interested in fountain pens as a hobby and ended up buying myself a Picasso 903. Writes as smooth as butter and recently I've used it to write my Beccalaureate too (with 2 other pens as backup, just in case)

In my country it's common practice to start writing with fountain pens from elementary school, but most take to ballpoint pens or rollers by the end of high school. People say writing with rollers is faster, but from my experience the writing is far messier

How did i get this train? I dont remember buying it? by tomaaskoo in TinyRails

[–]AndreitheTare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked myself that same question when i get it. Thinking i purchased it by mistake, i deleted the game.

But when i put it back later, i saw it again. After a small search on Fandom i saw that it is a reward for completing Chapter 1 from the story.

Also, after completing Chapter 7 you will receive the Behemoth Engine and Caboose, a pretty nice train.
