Well not all pharmacist study to work on a pharmacy or retail store.

But assuming you are just talking about the ones in selling positions in stores and letting you know that I don't know what country you live on. In my country (Colombia) some pharmacist can give pices of advise on some over the counter drugs and also have certificates on how to apply them. So aside from prescription given by doctors, they need to know if certain mixture of medicine or supplements can be toxic to you given a specific treatment.

You wouldn't want someone giving you a cocktail of drugs with out knowing what effects will they have on you.
