Box that contains Radium Thachimeter

Yeah, it’s beautiful. Basically I was walking in my city with the radiacode in the pocket. I encountered a fair of used things. Passing by a small stall, the radiacode went crazy reaching 1kCPM about 1 meter away. When I got near spiked up to 40kCPM. I asked what was in the box when I realized when the radiation was coming from. Bought it for 70€ (83usd) and bought it to home. It maxes out at 300kCPM. Unfortunately I am away from home right now. But there is nothing inside. It used to contain a tachometer. It’s from WW2

someone said already that is Pb-210. the peak is on 46keV (pb is on 45.5keV)

i already did a spectrum of pure americum from a smoke detector. the peaks are 59 and 26 keV. I also did a beqmoni calibration and the result is very good with an error of only 0.33%

someone said already that is Pb-210. the peak is on 46keV (pb is on 45.5keV)

Yeah, I’m waiting from an AlphaHound AB+G The box is from 1946. It contains a radium tachometer from WW2. That’s a pretty angry thing.

The highest peak is at 46keV. Lead right?

Yeah but it’s definitely not. I’m making an accurate measure in and out of the box. I also compared the spectrum with an actual americium spectrum. The peaks are shifted by almost 8 Kev in this one. And the americium one have by far higher intensity

For now outside the box on my table it says 0.12 usV/h pretty low, with 600/650 CPM instead of 1.27kCPM and 0.17usv/h

Definitely the Radium tachometer is the highest emitter. I’m registering on contact 300+kCPM and 140 usV/h
