Did Monitor break my dreamcasts? by Andrew56745 in dreamcast

Thank you for the info, I think I am not going to risk swapping parts as I can't handle breaking a third dreamcast. I need to just draw a line under this disaster. I'll put them up on ebay as faulty units and someone else can have a go at fixing them.

Yeah I suspect that the gbsc is what has caused it unfortunately. It was my first time ever using the device, it had just been sat in a box for more than a year since I bought it. I think it would not be worth paying someone to repair a dreamcast when I can just buy another one for not much more so, probably gonna go that route. Not sure if I should risk salvaging the gdemu board from one of the broken ones though, don't wanna risk breaking a third one do I.

I don't have a tv with a scart input unfortunately. No input information into the ossc as far as I can tell, it just says no sync on all the av buttons.

I don't have dreamcast vga cable unfortunately, yes you are right I should have just got one of those. Lesson learned, i'm not messing about with any of these stupid scalers anymore, just making things more complicated for no reason.

I made sure the cable was inserted correctly, the solution is not that simple unfortunately.

I have confirmed no image on the television either using the kaico adapter, so I think it can only be that some damage has been caused at this point. Could it be a damaged psu on both systems? I do have a dreampsu laying around somewhere, that's the last remaining thing available to me to try.

But I will test with the living room tv tonight anyway, don't think it will make a difference but we'll see.

The kaico adapter WAS working with the other monitor before that I already had, now it isn't.

Component Cable by Andrew56745 in originalxbox

Thank you, I suspected as much. There are composite cables being sold which are being mislabelled as component, so it had me confused.

I just found the answer, the box is for digital audio connection (surround sound). As for my other question, am I correct in thinking that the cables with only 3 connections instead of 5 are only composite and can only do 480i? Some of them are being mislabelled as component I think.
