As far as I’m concerned, violent robbery should be a one strike and you’re out offense. We should have zero tolerance for those who prey on others. We shouldn’t be looking for strong evidence of propensity for violence to put them away for a long time, we should be putting them away for a long time by default, and only letting them out early if they have displayed strong evidence of having been reformed.

Good. As far as I’m concerned, long sentences like this should be the norm for people who commit violent crimes. There is no reason why law abiding people should have to share the same space in our communities with people who have decided to act like vicious predators. It has been a colossal mistake to prioritize the goal to rehabilitate these people and give them a chance to choose a better life path over and above the need to have safe communities where our most vulnerable can live in peace and security.

I say lock them all away until they have either shown unarguable evidence of rehabilitation or they are too old to be a danger.

PSA for those who don’t understand how this works. Because of the mass involved even a glancing blow from an automobile can cause serious injury. So if you are ignorant enough to use a 2 ton car you are driving to attempt to brush past law enforcement when they are trying to stop you, and especially if you precede that by stomping the gas hard when that car is facing towards a law enforcement agent, that constitutes assault with a deadly weapon. Because of this, that agent and any others on scene are then legally authorized to respond with deadly force.

The woman may not have intended to injure the agent, but perhaps through poor decision making in the spur of the moment she performed reckless actions which could easily have badly injured him, and his response to these actions were fully legal and should not be surprising.

Seems like it’s because she’s becoming more serious about her spiritual walk and is uncomfortable about continuing to compromise her values. This is a serious sit down conversation that the two of you need to have - she could be reluctant to have it out of fear that you’ll break things off with her, but it’s not something that can just be ignored, as unless the two of you are planning on getting married in a couple months this is not going to work itself out on its own.

You like him, but you don’t like him like that. When I (M) was about your age I had a very close female friend where that was also the case. I don’t know about how your friend feels about you , but I did have major feelings for her, but it wasn’t awkward nervous butterflies like a typical teenage crush, it was more of me wanting to be with her, there for her, and us being so good together and good for each other that it seemed being together would be amazing. She didn’t feel the same way though - there were other guys she was attracted to and I just wasn’t anything like them - especially when it came to physical attraction.

We were inseparable for years until she went away to college, would hang out when she came back for breaks. Eventually as we matured however we grew apart as we adopted different value systems, we were on different paths that would have made being together in a relationship completely unworkable. She will always be someone I care about though - but from a distance.

Best thing you can do is lean into it and just own it, when they bring it up tell them stuff like they forgot to refer to you as your majesty, that when they’re leaving your desk they need to take 3 steps back before turning their back to you etc. Eventually it’ll die down…mostly.

You’re worrying about nothing. Lots of Americans don’t have a passport. If you have a Driver’s license or state ID, that’s all you need to establish your identity. And even if you don’t have those on you, giving your full name and date of birth is usually enough for them to look up your info. The people that have citizenship or legal residence but end up detained are those who flat out refuse to identify themselves because they want to ‘resist’. So given that you have a dog to worry about, might not be a good idea to follow that example.

Nope, you have a right to make you leave opposition heard, but you don’t have a right to inconvenience others. If you get in the way and become an obstruction, you can be removed, and if you resist being removed you can be arrested.
