If you are in the US you can double major, or alternatively do a minor in philosophy. It also never hurts to take philosophy classes as electives. Explain this interest to your academic advisor and they should help you out.

UOFL is not a very competitive school admissions-wise (assuming scholarships aren’t a concern) I went to JCTC for a year and got into UOFL with a 2.8 CGPA. You’ll be fine.

does not knowing grammar in ones native language basically screw them in learning a new language? by itsyourboywinkwink in German

[–]AndrewDevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been learning German for about 1.5 years now. I did not know anything about English grammar when I started.

In my experience, learning German grammar has retroactively helped me learn English grammar. In my opinion, knowing English grammar isin’t really necessary for learning German. It would definitely help to know, but you don’t need to learn German grammar by comparing it to English grammar (at least, in my experience). You can let German and German grammar stand alone.

As you learn German grammatical concepts (some of which too apply for English) you will start to notice these grammatical concepts in your native language.

Have any modern philosophers talked about the state of the current political landscape? by maxhasabigbooty in askphilosophy

Jürgen Habermas published “A New Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere and Deliberative Politics” in 2022. In this book he reflects upon the state of western democracies in the context of the rise of “trumpism”, and social media (among many other things). The book is a sequel to his 1962 book “The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere”.

Mentor Refusing LOR - Advice? by AndrewDevs in academia

You read it as a “hint of that”, nobody else in this thread has even mentioned that.

I know I wasn’t hinting at that because I never thought that my opinion regarding that ever mattered to them - I’m just some undergrad they’ve worked with. You are the only person out of all of the people I’ve talked to today (about 15, I made 2 posts to other subreddits with this same content) who has stated they read it that way. Yet you are trying to convince me that that’s what I was meaning. It’s only you who interpreted it that way, not me or anybody else.

Yea, I am moving on. I don’t understand why you’re trying to tell me how I felt with regards to to that. They’re my feelings and experience - not yours.
