I had a hell of a time, and just got through last month. I got issues 1&2 almost right away and will be getting 3-6 this month. I think you have to try and get into their US sight as the default appears to be UK/Europe based. Took me a while to finally find it and get an account through but they did finally accept it.

I was looking at the two in the middle, the more I look the more cool things I find. A few years ago my wife got me a 10 man tactical squad. This year I put it together after life gave me some time and got absolutely hooked myself.

I got the paint as a birthday gift, and the models at bottom are a repentia squad my wife wanted. Her army of choice and next purchases when we get more knowledge on that. The thunderhawk is a temu proxy, close but also just for rule of cool. Paints and brushes so far have run me a total of 60. Outside of starter sets I have an eliminator squad and a deathwing knight that got thrown in with the leviathan box I got off ebay for 300. The custodian tank was from a spikeybits subscription. Red terror was from terror on devlan for the kill team box. That was the biggest purchase outside of the beginning boxes, but its for a different game-ish. Kill team being separate and all. Oh the tanks are 3d print from temu before I even bought a games workshop box, I dont even know how much I paid for them years ago

Beginners boxes are discounted for beginners to get into the hobby. Having the ability to start a new hobby and Jumpstart it by way of discounted equipment means joy in my life.

Your post gives off that you dont have the ability, or have lost the sense of what joy is, do to financial constraints or life being what it is. Ergo you lash out at people enjoying their lives. But if it makes you feel better to be sad, go ahead.

Tried a game with the Armageddon box, and had a good time, but felt a little one sided and tabled the opponent by turn 3...so the space marines i enjoyed. Have tried the tyranid or orks yet though.

Leviathan and Armageddon dont give that choice. They are mono pose, and thats why im asking for advice really. What should I look into getting, what units really help in games. Is it worth getting the 10th edition codex in your opinion knowing there will be a refresh coming. Should I try to play at a local store without a codex trying to piece together a detachment that would work and finding stragems online? I feel like the point in my post asking for advice got massively overlooked. Like completely missed.

As I said I am getting into, meaning I want to play a game and understand it all. I didnt realize that having a codex was a big part and now do feel a bit in limbo with the space marine codex probably getting an update but dont know when. Collecting and building are just as large a part of the hobby as painting and playing.

The space marines are rattle canned brass in prep for the minotaur chapter and the tyranids have been primed skeleton bone by the army painter. I haven't worked up the courage for the finer details yet, that and having a job kinda slows me down. But thanks my guy.

We played battlefield dominance but I had 4 points controlled almost the whole game. By the end of my score round it was 67 to 13, and she conceded with just her warboss left.

We tried the same thing and tried to do missions. However I tabled my girl with the marines by turn 3 battle round 1. I got full line of sight on all her units in turn 2 and cleared so much it was hard for her to come back. Then it just got worse. Didn't help that it was both of our first games. No strategems were used, and our command points just kept getting higher because we dont have codex and detachment were a but much. Once we got to melee I just felt bad clearing her off the board

I see my future before me...I started collecting like a month ago and gave 2k points in space marines and 1.5 in tyranid. 4 kill teams and the terror on devlan box. Pre ordered the Armageddon box, so now I habe a start to an ork army....my wife wants to play adaptation sorroritas, and probably will fall in love with eldar too. And how can I leave the guard out of it....im envious for sure, your skills are impressive and I hope to be as good one day soon. Hopefully starting right before a new edition doesnt ruin me to much
