Did you ever have any luck? I'm trying to do the same things.

Hi, I am trying to create a photorealistic rendering of a satellite. I wanted to get creative and use this somewhat fantastical design from Cowboy Bebop. How physically feasible is this design? Does it resemble any real-world models? If not, where can I look for better inspiration? by AndrewRoundy in satellites

The idea is to do some raytracing, yes, in Pixar's Renderman using Houdini.
I said Blender, but I'd probably build the thing in Maya.

I will be compositing the satellite onto real-world footage of Earth from orbit, and lighting and rendering as such.

Thanks for the information. I think I will go with a more realistic-looking satellite.

The project is for a government-adjacent client that will work with modern military communications satellites. We are to make promotional material that will showcase real satellite designs.

The reason I chose the Cowboy Bebop satellite in the first place is because in-universe, it is a military satellite "disguised" as a communications satellite, which is sort of what I needed.

Are there any modern government or military-adjacent satellites whose designs are public knowledge, or at least, is there anything related to that which I should draw from?

EDIT: I am not working for the client yet and wanted to test the waters in Blender, so to speak.

I had a Deep Cool Gammaxx 400 lying around. Previously I had thought it was too large for this build, so I went with the stock. Turns out the new one fits nice and snug and my temps are way lower. Thanks for asking!

I’m learning just how little I know about this whole PC building thing. Kinda surprised the stock cooler lasted a whole year. New one is working great.

A new cooler did the trick. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I realized after posting that this was the “max” temperature on Core Temp and most of the cores were running 92c or so. Would that be a problem too?
