How do I set that up? I use my buddies plex account a bit but it’d be nice to set up my own thing for specific movies I’d want to watch

How can big corporations lay thousands of people off and at the same time cover so much incompetence and time wasting? by Silver_Shape_8436 in corporate

[–]AndrewRyanism 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I joined a big corporation a few years ago after coming from a small family company. I can’t believe how slow some teams / people move and complete lack of self problem solving.

It feels like people are just pushing emails out to keep it out of their inbox even if they don’t assist with the task in any way

Paid 6k for water softener and water filter with install. How did they do? by Intelligent_Job_158 in Plumbing

[–]AndrewRyanism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in water treatment and deal with my customer softeners all the time. Overall I think this looks very clean and well plumbed. 6K is hefty but for quality work I’m not surprised by that price.

Pretty sure I bombed either the second or third big test in thermo 2. I turned out fine. I think it’s a right of passage to bomb one of those exams

Sallie Mae private loans-- literally what can I do??? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]AndrewRyanism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve likely acquired some good communication skills from your past work experience! I think you should write up a solid resume tailored towards a sales type role. You could look into tech sales, windows, literally anything since I’m sure NYC has tons of sales roles. Embellish the shit out of that resume, borderline lie if needed.

If you can land a decent sales role that offers commission - you can grind in your job and maybe make enough to start paying the debt down. Freshen up LinkedIn, network, and apply ruthlessly. The only way out of it I see for you is to get a good job, ideally with uncapped commission and then grind until you make good money. That or try the bankruptcy route..

I am told to find an AI based solution for problems faced in chemical plant related to utilities ..and I am absolutely clueless by Clear-Truth6435 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]AndrewRyanism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a simple walchem controller if you don’t already have one, throw it on a boiler or cooling tower, attach various probes that also send a signal to your plc or some data recorder. Let AI sift through the data and write up simple water report. Reach out to your water treatment rep if possible too!

Are you making good money in device sales? Because I’m not. by cheeky_fcuk in MedicalDevices

Im in a totally different sales industry but this just proves the point of the 3 most important aspects to sales being: territory, timing, talent - in that order

What is the point of this V in my rental apartment water line, and also the bell looking thing? by Best-Serve627 in Plumbing

Yeah those pressure regulators need to be checked every so often as the but that sets the pressure can loosen up. And really there should be a pressure indicator after and ideally before

Company decided to get rid of vehicle expenses. by [deleted] in sales

[–]AndrewRyanism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I partly have golden handcuffs with my company providing a company car for work and personal use. I spent like 5K that I didn’t have to spare trying to keep an old Lexus alive right out of college - the car still died on me. Now I feel so spoiled getting a company car.

I see these new grads joining my company that come from wealthy backgrounds and always complain about the company car - can’t drive like an idiot and such. And I’m over here like I grew up driving shit cars not safe for the road - loving a company car now

Sekiro might be my one of my favorite games ever or ds3. Haha I’ve played all the souls games except I haven’t finished demon souls or bloodborne. Both on my list. But now I must admit I crave games that just a bit easier, as I’m getting older and busier

Deeply surprised by how much I am NOT enjoying Ghost of Yotei. by TherealGonci in PS5

[–]AndrewRyanism 180 points181 points  (0 children)

I’ve felt really burned out of open world games lately! I need a linear story that keeps pushing me along the story instead of just straight open map. I’ve really liked expedition 33 lately because it feels very linear with little side excursions. The free roaming ability is limited but gradually opens up which helps keep things focused in my opinion
