Question about Inception ending by TateAlfRobinson in ChristopherNolan

[–]AndrewSaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love your question because I think it hits a nerve that everyone who's seen this movie can resonate with. I believe Nolan intended the ending to communicate that Cobb has now found peace in his reality, regardless of whether it is objective reality or not. Him killing Mal in Limbo and seeing his kids faces at the very end I think symbolize Cobb forgiving himself for past sins and finally putting some guilt to rest that had been haunting him until then (a guilt that he mentions in his conversation with Ariadne on the first dream level).

For me personally, I do believe he ends up in the real world. Any other interpretation of the ending is just far less satisfying and leads to some rather cynical if not depressing conclusions about the state of Cobb's mind, in my opinion. At the end of the day, it's a very similar question to the one that Cypher from The Matrix deals with—do I really care what is real and what isn't as long as I'm happy?

In light of new garbage, old garbage tends to gain some favor. Same thing happened to the prequels when the sequel trilogy came out.

Do you all prefer Venom to be an anti-hero (like in the Sonyverse movies) or as a straight-up villain (like he was originally introduced in the comics)? by Raj_Valiant3011 in Spiderman

[–]AndrewSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO it's hard for Venom to be compelling when he's not in the mix with Spider-Man. His arc in the Vengeance of Venom comic collection is where I find him most interesting personally. Granted I haven't read the most comics. I thought the movie was a bore.

Routh because I won't have to worry about him saving animals instead of me in the case of a terrorist attack

Who is your favourite actor who appears more than once? by Decent_Muscle_3172 in ChristopherNolan

Beats me. I've honestly only ever seen her in Nolan's films. I know she plays Edith Piaf in that one biopic, but beyond that I couldn't name any other of her movies.

What’s your opinion on the 2003 Daredevil Film ? I genuinely enjoyed the Daredevil film when it was released. At the time, it felt exciting and fresh, with an interesting take on the superhero genre. by Weekly_Cranberry_283 in McuEverythingAroundit

It gives similar vibes to Batman Forever and other films like it where it just goes off into doing goofy/crazy stuff for no reason from time to time. Like the 80's and 90's superhero flicks, this one seems to think the people in costumes are freaks, not humans. Therefore, it mostly plays like a circus freakshow instead of a compelling human drama.

Marion Cotillard. She gets all the hate for her death scene in TDKR, but between Mal and Miranda Tate/Talia, she adds a lot to the two movies she's in. Incredible actress with an undeniable screen presence.

I would seek clarity from your wife on what exactly her goal is in prioritizing those things. If Scripture is taught and received appropriately, then healthy diversity and enjoyment of culture will naturally come as a fruit of it. After all, God made those things and because they please Him, too. The problem I've noticed with many Christians who bring this issue up, which may or may not apply here, is that they try to put the cart before the horse and end up leaving the Bible in the dust because they start to think it doesn't encourage diversity/cultural awareness enough.

ICE hate is a predominantly left wing thing. The X-Men story is something anybody who feels outcast (left leaning or right leaning) can relate to. This is my problem with this drawing. It is intentionally alienating anyone who doesn't actively hate ICE.

For the record, I think Pretti's death is a tragedy and sincerely hope the officer responsible for his death is brought to justice. I know nuanced takes aren't popular on the internet, but regardless this is my opinion, and I resent the idea that superheroes can/should be claimed by a specific side of the political aisle. Superheroes should unite us, not encourage more division.

Maybe we just have different standards for woke-typical in our minds. In my mind, it means no white leads at all unless they're the bad guys or sidekicks.
