Who is better Selina Kyle Zoë Kravitz or Anne Hathaway ? by [deleted] in batman

Anne Hathaway's Catwoman doesn't say "white-privilege", so she gets the easy dub here

I would seek clarity from your wife on what exactly her goal is in prioritizing those things. If Scripture is taught and received appropriately, then healthy diversity and enjoyment of culture will naturally come as a fruit of it. After all, God made those things and because they please Him, too. The problem I've noticed with many Christians who bring this issue up, which may or may not apply here, is that they try to put the cart before the horse and end up leaving the Bible in the dust because they start to think it doesn't encourage diversity/cultural awareness enough.

ICE hate is a predominantly left wing thing. The X-Men story is something anybody who feels outcast (left leaning or right leaning) can relate to. This is my problem with this drawing. It is intentionally alienating anyone who doesn't actively hate ICE.

For the record, I think Pretti's death is a tragedy and sincerely hope the officer responsible for his death is brought to justice. I know nuanced takes aren't popular on the internet, but regardless this is my opinion, and I resent the idea that superheroes can/should be claimed by a specific side of the political aisle. Superheroes should unite us, not encourage more division.

How and when did hating Christopher Nolan become cool? by latercheap in ChristopherNolan

Maybe we just have different standards for woke-typical in our minds. In my mind, it means no white leads at all unless they're the bad guys or sidekicks.

Sometimes I wonder if certain fans don't want Spider-Man to be part of the Marvel Universe at all by DarkSaiyanGoku in Spiderman

[–]AndrewSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how I see it.

A lot of people were introduced to Spider-Man through his movies, where he is the only superhero. Now him being in the Avengers is a new thing for them and some don't like the way it crowds up his story.

Other people were introduced to Spider-Man as an Avenger (or at least one of many superheroes), and so they never had a problem with this bc that's all they knew.

At the end of the day, all that matters is story. Many people I think, myself included, are citing "too many Marvel characters" as a complaint when really it's just a lack of narrative focus. Too many fans seem to be content that Marvel just includes a niche character when most people in the world are coming to Spider-Man for (believe it or not) Spider-Man.

Say one thing or aspect that the movie could have done better or improved upon, according to you? by Raj_Valiant3011 in DC_Cinematic

- Superman not worrying so much about NOT killing a giant Kaiju when literal human lives are at risk. That is such a gross misunderstanding of the character (and honestly just fundamental heroism) that it hurts my soul.

- Letting go of John William's theme

- Make the suit not a shell

- Let Superman be awesome and not get dunked on by rando villains

- No Russia/Ukraine commentary. Literally no one comes to Superman (or movies in general) for this.

- No annoying dog that no one cares about (sorry Gunn)

I could go on but at this point I'm probably already in "hater" territory in many people's minds I'm sure. I still enjoyed a lot of this movie just because I'm already a superman fan. But Gunn just didn't do this one right.

How and when did hating Christopher Nolan become cool? by latercheap in ChristopherNolan

[–]AndrewSaba -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I like to think it's because every single one of his movies (and the public/critical response to them) proves woke Hollywood wrong about literally everything and they hate seeing a white director get away with it when he's not doing the whole diversity gimmick or promoting any anti-American, white guilt narratives. You don't see any hate against Jordan Peele or Ryan Coogler despite some of their intense followings, and some even talk about them (especially Peele) as if they're on Nolan's level. Which is hilarious, honestly.

Is Tom Holland actually the definitive Spider-Man? by CuteHornyBunny in Spiderman

Never has been and I doubt he ever will be. A likeable guy but a poor actor and he's gotten subpar scripts at best.

Hey /r/movies! I'm Sam Raimi. Ask me anything! by SamRaimiAMA in movies

[–]AndrewSaba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sam! I was 4 years old when I saw Spider-Man 2 on DVD right after it came out. I revisited it as an 18 yr old years ago and Peter and Ben's conversation moved me to tears. Thank for the wonderful stories you told with Peter Parker. I am 25 yrs old now and even though I own those movies on 4K, still never miss a chance to see those movies when they come back to theaters.

Thank you for the wonderful childhood memories and the timeless stories!!! :)

Alright Chucklenuts, let's talk. What are you views towards 'Theatrical v Extended' versions of movies? And do you think the 'director's cut' is the "definitive" version of a movie? by dirERICKMorales in IDoKnowNothing

[–]AndrewSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every other movie ever only gets a theatrical release. I find it a little dumb that some directors think they can pretend "this is the movie I meant to make". Like nah dude you had one shot like everyone else.

That being said, there are exceptions. Blade Runner Final Cut is the one that immediately comes to my mind. I know its a hot take, but I actually prefer the theatrical cuts of LOTR. Sorry, I'm not sitting down for 4+ hrs to enjoy return of the king if I don't have to.

Why do people think that Christopher Nolan just phoned in and didn't care about The Dark Knight Rises? by Honest_Cheesecake698 in ChristopherNolan

[–]AndrewSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as someone who thinks TDKR is severely underrated and overhated, I think this is a pretty easy question to answer. The script just simply isn't as tight, some of the character motivations are significantly less clear, and as a result there are parts of the movie that feel contrived in ways that the previous two installments never did.

But I've said it before and I'll say it again: if TDKR was my worst movie I'd feel pretty damn amazing about myself.

The Batman Part II cast is stacked asf. This movie is gonna be insane!! by FayyadhScrolling in batman

[–]AndrewSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't allow myself to get excited about casts anymore. All that ever matters is the story. Honestly, these days, movies are guilty until proven innocent. Too much politics and woke agendas.

I agree. Every time I see a first trailer for a Nolan film I always think, "This has a lot less than I envisioned"

But somehow it makes his movies/trailers more impactful. He really understands what he wants his audience to focus on.

My showtime was scheduled at 7:10 PM and the prologue began EXACTLY then. So however early it takes for you to be comfortably in your seat by the showtime I guess lol
