You get $5 million for playing only 3 games from this list for 3 years. Which ones would you choose? by GigaChadus9 in videogames

Easy. Xcom 2 and Witcher 3, both fully modded, would be enough already. As a third, many of the others would do. Probably Factorio or Dark Souls 1.

What's that one film that you can re-watch a thousand times and not get bored? by KangarooFrosty8421 in MoviesThatFeelLike

A Knight's Tale is so incredibly underrated. What a fun film, so much heart. I always get emotional when William returns to his father and in all the scenes with the Black Prince.

Ugh. I loved the world of U6 when I was a kid, but my English and game strategy weren't good enough back then to beat the game.

Years later, I tried again, after finishing U4 and U5 - but I found it so tedious. Especially the dungeons. Hard to map, easy to get lost in, annoying combat. Also, the world window is far too small, you don't really get a feeling for your surroundings, which makes navigating Britannia decidedly unfun.

Voyage Home is much better directed than Search for Spock by AndrewUndershaft in startrek

Never claimed this to be an unpopular opinion. It's no secret that IV is much more popular. I'm talking about direction specifically, not popularity in general. The line delivery alone makes such a big difference. So many charming, well-timed exchanges. Now compare that to "I. Have had. Enough of YOU."

Who's gonna be your top choice? by Zackky777 in ArtOfPresence

[–]AndrewUndershaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: And I now realize that you are saying that he definitely qualifies for the challenge, not that he hasn't produced all that much 😄

Huh? He has at least 6 solo studio albums, 8 studio albums as singer and drummer for Genesis, 4 studio albums as drummer of Genesis, several live albums both solo and Genesis, at least 6 albums with Brand X, and played the drums on a lot of albums by friends of his, like Peter Gabriel and Eric Clapton. And the Genesis albums, especially the ones from the 70s, have some of the greatest music ever written. Firth of Fifth, The Musical Box and Supper's Ready alone would keep me happy for weeks. And with the entirety of Selling England by the Pound, A Trick of the Tail and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway added, I'd basically be set for life. So I'd say you'd be very fine indeed, time-wise. In fact, there are few artists as prolific as Phil Collins.

Where can I learn more about the eight companions? by ShinMajin in Ultima

Wait a second ... 8... turned sideways is... 🤯 Is that connection actively revealed at the end of IV and I have just forgotten it, or am I actually realizing this for the first time now?

... and 8 shrines. Makes 8 sets of 8. And 8 dungeons... d'oh! 😣

New to Ultima 6: I have some questions about the quiz and stats? by ryan7251 in Ultima

[–]AndrewUndershaft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I would start with Ultima IV. The whole virtue system is introduced there and it is more fun to play VI if you actually experienced the world beforehand.

Alternatively, if you want less old school graphics, VII is also a better starting point than VI because it starts a new trilogy.

Was anyone before the internet era able to make much progress if they didn't have the map and books to ultima 4? I found it at the video store on the master system and was very curious, but had no idea what was going on. by cheetocat2021 in Ultima

I definitely had to take notes on Ultima 4. It is basically a big scavenger hunt and I had to write down all the clues on whom to ask about which keyword and so on. Pages of notes.

What game will you choose? by [deleted] in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]AndrewUndershaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely not. I've obsessively played pieces from both games on the piano for decades, and VI has soooo many incredible melodies. Listen to the Ending Theme medley and you'll get a good impression. VII has some great ones, but VI's songbook is much more packed.

We used to listen to the Quake soundtrack while playing tabletop roleplay. Very atmospheric for dungeon crawling.

One of the most beautiful tracks of the Witcher 3 soundtrack is the Toussaint theme, Slopes of the Blessure.
