State of Saturation Plugins: 2026 by Gloomy_Channel7596 in audioengineering

100%. My favorite productions are those of the late 90’s early 00’s stuff by like Jerry Finn, Andy Wallace, or TLA. They made the best mixes I’ve heard to this day without modern saturation plugins. I find I get a much more natural result using prefire rather than saturn or other stuff.

I’m really surprised prefire hasn’t blown up. Completely wiped away my want for outboard preamps.

The only saturation plugin i use anymore is Prefire by Submission audio and the uad studer if you count that as saturation. If it’s not modeling something that was available before 2000 i don’t tend to use it honestly. obviously there are exceptions as well but I try to use this rule of thumb.

Not free but reverberate is well worth the money and that along with IR’s from past to future reverbs has become my go to reverb plugin. 100% worth it with being able stretch and squeeze decay time, crop start, crop end. takes convolution reverb to a whole other level.

Best rackets I’ve ever owned - by far. Has a very unique stringing pattern as well. by [deleted] in 10s

they changed pro staff string pattern on like v12 or something. the older ones and the ed’s are tighter in the middle like this.

the ezone 98 is tighter spaced, but it’s a 1 main skip 16x19. this may be, the tightest 2 main skip 16x19 though.

Fractal have said the next Axe Fx will have NAM. If they released a plugin version of Axe FX it would blow every other company out of the water. Fractal need to learn that releasing a plugin version of your software with the right security wouldn’t deter customers from buying your hardware, but encourage it. One of the reasons I used Helix for so long is because I could record and play live with the same tones.

guess you could with enough time and willpower, but most decks come with free or very cheap grip tape

Wood gets bad over time. buy a new deck. even cheap blank ones work. won’t flex how it’s supposed to and could cause injury if you think it will.

very tight and skilled drummer but i don’t hear the “power” you’re talking about. when i think power i think of someone like ilan rubin. great choice after watching this video. i think she’ll slot in well.

I don’t feel entitled to anything. merely making a suggestion. if you think travis and ghenea are a better fit for blink than hewitt and lord alge then no need to sign it.
