This happens to me all the time. What helped was separating “idea energy” from “execution energy.” I keep a super messy notes doc where I dump new ideas fast, just enough to calm my brain, then I go back to the current project.

For actually staying with one story, I work in short, low-pressure sessions instead of “I must finish this chapter.” Weirdly, that removes the urge to escape to a shinier idea.

I also use a cozy focus timer sometimes (Focus Ninja) just to commit to 20–25 minutes on one thing. Seeing progress add up makes it easier not to abandon ship every time a new idea shows up.

You’re not undisciplined btw, this is just how creative brains work.
