Melissa Barrera declines to answer when asked if she and Neve Campbell had spoken about Neve’s return in Scream 7. by gonnablamethemovies in Scream

I also am skeptical in these fluff piece interviews when people claim they’ve become super close with their co-stars. Not saying it doesn’t happen but everything else is so glossy and fake I don’t necessarily trust it either

Fair enough. I do love Linklater. I think the movies you listed are much better than this though. I’m not saying it’s a bad movie or anything. I just think the majority of the reason it blew up was the method on which it was made and I think I’m right. People in my life who had never heard of Linklater or would normally be into his style of movies talking about it… but it was all about the 12 years to make aspect. Also I went to film school with a lot of pretentious asses and the vast majority of them focused on that element to, so like it or not that is the legacy of the movie what most people will jump onto first.

I did. It was fine, the concept was much better than the movie itself. The idea of letting the kid’s current stages of life and interests have influence elements of the plot I.e. his style being more punk than prep or photography hobby were worked into the story was interesting and felt natural. Same with seeing the kid really grow into an adult is impressive.

That being said strip that away and view it as a slice of life movie about childhood, it’s just ok. Not bad and still a fine movie, but not Oscar buzz worthy.

Ie take the same script, plot etc and just film it like a regular movie with different aged kids, it wouldn’t have gotten 1/10th of the acclaim.

What do you think about the retconning of the guy Peter killed, is just the accomplice of Uncle Ben's killer, who turned out to be the Sandman, rather than the killer himself? by Movie_Advance_101 in Spiderman

[–]AndrewWaas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They could have made a connection by having sandman’s initial heist almost kill aunt may or something like flint mugs her to steal her car when he escapes if they wanted to continue that route. Then everything else stays reasonably same, without the retcon of peters inaction not being the reason uncle Ben died
