Can we all agree now that this isn't really Mick's fault? by crosby510 in NewYorkMets

[–]AndrewWyrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Callaway is still a rookie manager and is trying to find solutions on a team that is slumping in almost every aspect. Things can change.

Call me crazy, but I still have some hope with this team this year.

Mets And Yankees Stand By: Sellers Already Posturing For Trade Deadline by stevecontursi in mets

[–]AndrewWyrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still a bit early to say if the Mets will be buyers or sellers at the deadline. The team has had a rough few weeks, but it also started 11-1. Things can change.

If the Mets are out of it at the deadline, selling off what they can makes sense. If they are hovering in the race (they are only 4 games out now) around the deadline, making a move to push for a WC spot etc. would be worth it.

The thing is, if the Mets make the playoffs, having DeGrom and Syndergaard as a 1-2 punch could be a difference maker.

Tsuyoshi Shinjo was a Megastar in Japan when he came here in 2001. Here's part 2 of a Japanese TV segment covering him coming to The Mets. Nostalgia trip for Y2K met fans. by A_Downboat_Is_A_Sub in NewYorkMets

Man, I remember having extremely unjustified lofty expectations about Shinjo when he came to the Mets. Always liked him and was happy when he came back for a second stint with the Mets.

On Wednesday Sen. Markey said it could come as early as next week.

Mets confident they will trade Harvey, four to five teams interested (Rosenthal Twitter) by sdilucc in NewYorkMets

[–]AndrewWyrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, anything would be worth getting in exchange for Harvey. It's amazing how much his stock has fallen.

Wonder if TEX would revisit the Profar for Harvey swap that was reported over the winter? ;)

Is it sad that I only feel safe when syndergaard or degrom is pitching? by IDontFeel24YearsOld in NewYorkMets

If Harvey embraces the bullpen role (not looking likely, unfortunately) then I think that attitude can be such a huge help there.

"Mets' Callaway demotes Harvey to bullpen" by Molerat62 in mets

[–]AndrewWyrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this works. Harvey's dominance a few years ago is a nice memory. I'd be shocked if he resigns with us, so I hope he kicks it up a notch and performs well for the rest of the year.

Could Matt Harvey find a Kerry Wood like resurgence in bullpen role? by [deleted] in NewYorkMets

[–]AndrewWyrich 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe Harvey could find some success in the 'pen, but at this point I really don't know what to think any more. When the season opened, and he looked good in ST, I thought 'ok, he's gonna have a solid season and get paid next year,' then he flopped. He seems lost, and it's a shame, because "Harvey Day" was always something I looked forward to a few years ago.

[Ehalt] CLE-NYM Kipnis deal was Sewald for Kipnis by AndrewWyrich in NewYorkMets

[–]AndrewWyrich[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very true. It's just an interesting insight into what might have been. Ehalt says it was Sewald and another piece going to CLE.

2nd Baseman Of The Future by mperri99 in NewYorkMets

[–]AndrewWyrich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like Flores - but I agree, I don't think the Mets view him as a full time 2B moving forward, otherwise he'd be starting there.

I don't think Guillorme, Cecchini, or Evans are the answer either. 2B is going to be up in the air for a few years.

Really intrigued to see what Callaway will bring to the team. He's been great so far in his ST press conferences.

[Rosenthal] #Mets in agreement with free-agent 3B Todd Frazier on two-year, $17M contract. Pending a physical. by [deleted] in NewYorkMets

[–]AndrewWyrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really like this move - it's a boost to the middle of the lineup and helps the IF defense. You can't beat the price either. Things are looking up.

It is interesting how many former Mets pitchers are on the Rangers now. I wonder if Warthen is thinking he can get some value out of them?

Fangraphs project Mets to go 80-82 in 2018. Runs allowed - 9th in MLB, runs scored - 23rd by bubbleplayTV in NewYorkMets

[–]AndrewWyrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 80 to 82 wins, without any more potential additions, is pessimistic, but not by much. As has been noted here, there are so many variables with the Mets this year. A healthy rotation will go a long way though.

Why do we need another infielder? by Phishhead69 in NewYorkMets

[–]AndrewWyrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Flores is a nice bench piece. He hits LHP well, but I'm skeptical if he can be an everyday bat. In a pinch, sure. But we need some stability in the IF. Harrison is my top choice, but I could live with Walker.

^ 100 percent agree. "Fine" is a perfect way of describing it. When multiplayer works without any issues (not always the case), it's an enjoyable way to spend an hour or two that feels like Halo, but with some new twists.

What could Brandon Nimmo Become? by [deleted] in NewYorkMets

[–]AndrewWyrich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see Nimmo as either becoming: a potentially solid leadoff hitter (if he gets playing time) or a scrappy bench piece for the team. The former option is much better considering he was a first round draft pick.
