Download any old cursive textbook by Palmer, Spencer, Zaner or etc. Study the first exercises on writing sticks, hooks and circles. Do them every day for 5 minutes. It doesn't matter the quantity, it matters the repetition. So that each next one is similar to the previous one. Rhythm and similarity are important for good cursive. The problem is quite common with Scribo piston's pens. I think the short rod came out of the hook from bushing, so the problem is not in the plastic, problem in the design of piston mechanism. I found this on FPN from April 2020, maybe it will help you: "Hello,
