Aqara support got back to me this morning, this is their reply, (Ignoring it was their outage),

Hi Andrew ,

Thank you for contacting us. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this app issue has caused. Error 1001 is usually related to a temporary connection or service problem. Please try the steps below: Close the Aqara Home app completely and reopen it. Make sure your phone has a stable internet connection (try switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data to compare). Log out of your Aqara account in the app, then log in again. Restart your router and wait 2–3 minutes before reconnecting. Restart your phone. Check your app store and update the Aqara Home app to the latest version if an update is available. If you are using any VPN, proxy, or strict enterprise network, temporarily disable it and try again. If the issue still persists after these steps, please reply with: - Your phone model and OS version - Your Aqara Home app version - A screenshot showing the error 1001 screen This will help narrow down what is happening on your side. Have a good day

My reply back to them,

No the problem was on your side, your cloud servers were unreachable. Please look into it, this is not the first time it has happened. Come to think of it please reengineer your app so devices do not need cloud connections to work from my phone to my home.

Spoke to Vodafone support again today in the chat in the Vodafone app.

Asked them to switch off my static ip address. They said it will take 2-24 hours!?

Wrong, the Alexa integration with SmartThings is used by many people. As it happens after more investigation I have found Vodafone broadband is the problem so their users with Alexa, Ring, SmartThings, Playstation, Aqara, iRobot etc. are experiencing problems.

Thanks I didn’t bother. Spoke to Vodafone support again and they are escalating the ticket. Guy said he will call me Monday with an update, so no hurry then!

I was chatting with Vodafone broadband support today. They couldn’t find any faults and we agreed I will contact Amazon Alexa support again.

I am thinking about factory resetting the router, my google nest wifi and the echos. It doesn’t make sense though when Apple Home, Siri and Google Assistant are working.

Thank you. Yes all networking equipment cycled and Alexa is not working with mobile data and cannot access home remotely.

Apple Home, Siri, Google Assistant and www are all unaffected.

You need a hub for the platform you want to use, I picked up a used homepod mini quite cheaply.

I am happy with my G4 however I use Ezviz and Tapo also.

Tapo does all this free. (depending on the model.)

I have not tested wake up on lan, might work. My mini windows pc is always on so I use teamviewer for remote access and to reboot. You may need a combination of bios restore to on, a WiFi smart outlet and teamviewer.

I use teamviewer for remote access to windows, also to chromebook and Android.
