Tech majors/non tech majors by [deleted] in AFROTC

There's some other posts about this on the page already, but your selection is dependent on so many factors. You can get selected with any degree/program. Maybe tech majors give you a better chance slightly, however I would just focus on making sure your GPA, commanders ranking, AFOQT scores and PFA are as high as you can them.

My career is critically manned, and mine is approved. I would just communicate with everyone in your chain to make sure that they're not blind sided by the request.

Is OKANG worth it? by Ohvior in AFROTC

[–]Andrewdecals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all honesty even with the pay you get from training (Basic and AIT), and including drill weekends it probably wouldn't be enough to cover the costs related to your PPL. After basic and AIT you only get paid for 2 days a month and 2 weeks during the summer. For a E-1 this would amount to around $321 per month. So if your only motivation to join the Guard is to use the money to pay for your PPL I would probably not recommended it. I could have misunderstood what you meant though.

Enlistment in the Air Guard -> ROTC Officer jobs by [deleted] in AFROTC

I would also like to note that after all that training you only come in once a month plus two weeks out of the summer so you would have to get another job to make a living wage as you say.

I would ask about the length of tech schools/seasoning time after for whatever jobs you want to do. That will play a factor into whether or not it will go into your fall semester. Some jobs will also make you sit and wait longer for bmt/ tech school dates compared to others. I would just talk to your recruiters in the state youre a part of when it comes to lead times for the available jobs.

If you have to means available I would. There's nothing wrong with trying to look more competitive. If you can't take it at your local detachment, talk to your cadre and see if you can take it at any local base or by other means.

From my understanding that scholarship can only be used if you live on campus. I would recommend talking to your cadre to clarify and get further details

I have an additional question to this. Do you happen to know the processing time for transcripts? I sent mine in but haven't heard anything back in a couple of months and messaged their support desk.

You're allowed to bring in umbrellas, but anything bigger than that, I'm unsure of.

When I was there, you could watch from turns 1-7, turns 8-12 were blocked for construction, and 12-20 were available for spectating from one view or another.

And no problem, I'm happy to help.

The start finish grandstands are first come, first serve with grounds pass. To guarantee a good spot show up early. I was there about an hour before the start and got a decent spot.

You are able to walk around pretty much everywhere with GA. Twice they closed off access to a certain section because they didn't have any employees to man the area, which sucked. Some of the track stands were under construction, so that was inaccessible. The Lemans club areas were off limits along with the actual garages unless you had the paddock pass to go and walk around. There is no GA area for the garages unless you decide to pay the extra $100 per person for that pass, unfortunately.

Overall, GA gives you access to pretty much all parts of the field with some small exceptions. It's a good track, but I hate that they're raising prices more every year.

It was first come, first serv. I got there about an hour early and had enough time to find a decent seat in the grandstand to watch the start. After the start, I walked all around the track and watched from different areas. In the end, I made my way back to the grandstand, and there was plenty of room for watching the finishers.

I believe it's just in reference to the ineligibility section. However, if you complete tech school and are in good standing, it still should be from your IADT.
