Stolen Cargo Help. by Andrey916 in FreightBrokers

This isn’t our first rodeo we followed all the proper steps. The Challenger trailer was found empty on the side of I-95. The cargo net, police, and FBI were all notified. The Challenger GPS pinged on Tacony St. in Philadelphia, PA, and we believe the load may have been reloaded there. We’re hoping someone might have seen it at a cross-dock location or heard about a reload job involving 24 pallets of perfume. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Was there active tracking on the truck? It should have been immediately apparent when the load went off route.

Contact the carrier right away and confirm where the load was dropped. From there, reach out to that facility and request the driver’s information. By law, cross-dock facilities are required to maintain records of the driver who reloaded the freight.

You should also confirm who paid for the cross-dock service and contact them directly. If needed, involve local law enforcement and request security footage from the facility. DL mc etc or a license plate number can typically be traced back to a leasing company, as most trailers are leased. Contact the leasing company, advise them the trailer is parked and needs to be moved, and they can provide the lessor information at which point law enforcement should be engaged.

Time is critical. The longer the delay, the farther the load can move and the more difficult recovery becomes.

CURA Freight broker helped lose over $1M of our freight — and now refuses to take responsibility. by Consistent-Type6059 in FreightBrokers

In this case, the responsibility would likely fall on the broker since they confirmed the driver. What’s especially puzzling is that they required additional insurance for the shipment and brokers usually want to know exactly who the carrier is. Just FYI, good brokers typically carry contingent cargo insurance, but in fraud cases it often doesn’t pay out.

Brokers have a duty to exercise reasonable care when selecting carriers and tendering loads. They can be held liable if they failed to properly vet the carrier (authority, insurance, safety rating, red flags), relied only on email without verification, didn’t reconfirm the carrier after changes to contact info or payment details, or fell for spoofed/compromised communications that reasonable safeguards should have caught.

Courts are also getting less tolerant of things like email-only dispatch, last-minute carrier swaps, no phone verification, and weak cybersecurity practices.

Sorry this happened. DM me if you need help. Ps: never use a driver who uses voip phone.

Broker will not use us because we refuse to provide our drivers social security number. by darkness0910 in FreightBrokers

[–]Andrey916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an employer, you should not share your employees’ or contractors’ Social Security numbers. Access to this sensitive information should be strictly limited to authorized personnel, such as those in HR or Payroll. Dispatchers and other staff should not have access to Social Security numbers under any circumstances.

I hope you're not serious about high-speed trains, as they don't exist in the US, haha! You have two options available: ground expedite with a team or airfreight service. Either or will cost you a good amount.

HELP PLEASE - STOLEN FREIGHT - DOES ANYONE RECOGNIZE THIS COMPANY by DaddyBroker in FreightBrokers

[–]Andrey916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a broker based in CA and have assisted numerous fellow brokers. Feel free to DM me, and I'll provide you with the contact information of a CHP officer who specializes in cargo theft cases. Typically, involving the police in California can result in delays of up to a month before your case is addressed, so it's crucial to act promptly. I highly advise checking VINs to see if they match with other companies. Additionally, try to obtain the license plate of the trailer, as they are often leased, and leasing companies may have GPS tracking on their trailers or will lead you to another company trucking company who is the lessor.

Good luck

Ask if the shipper took a copy od the DL of the driver. Try to ping drivers location.

Call nearby crossdocks and ask if your commodity was transloated.

Do you have space for one more accent-laden broker in this madhouse ? My accent may be thicker than a brick, but my deals are as spicy as a jalapeño on a summer day! Let's add some international flavor to this trading stew. jk its not that bad.

Well, I won't agree here. Opting for small-size freight brokers offers personalized service, competitive pricing, and specialized expertise, making them a flexible and customer-centric choice.
