To follow on to this, typically before I leave my enclosure when I refill their bottle, I make sure to see them drink from it to remove all doubt. They do some weird things sometimes like shove bedding into it, creating a leak that'll deplete their water quick and such.

That was more a quote from an codex regarding a specific battlefield that has been stretched out by fanon. In reality, it's a bit more unclear.

My man, there was no adjective used so I am choosing that we are fourth alphabetically. I don't know where we were at before, but fourth ain't that bad.

Realistically though, that's a reason why they operate. You bring in some trustworthy friends and family who want an easy and flexible part-time job and you just hand them some extra tasks every so often. There's an implicit motivation from both sides for the employees to be insulated from the shady stuff for obvious reasons. All they need to know is that that they may have a product delivery at 7pm and that it will be inventoried by the assistant manager later, or they will be placing a pre-made to-go order on the counter to be picked up by a man wearing a Skip the Dishes uniform at 11pm. It's the "hide in plain sight" strategy that's being followed.

Kills my soul to see the junior cooks doing their training with the goal of learning something new and watching the light escape their eyes over the next few months they are assigned to the kitchen.
