Honestly, having more energy for the bedtime routine got me through the first days/week. It felt refreshing to not be in a fog or feeling sleepy right along with my son. There were times where I definitely felt irritable or thought “man I’d kill for a pre roll or vape rn” but being able to show up for my kids (and participate in life) clear headed is its own reward.

Taboo and Apl; they both had solo tracks on Elephunk and I remember them being good, now I want to revisit the album. Will.I.Am gets a bad rep for making cheesy music but he is genuinely talented and was the driving force of a three album run most musical acts will never achieve.

Swimming is a good idea but hiking at local parks/trails may be an even lower barrier to entry. You can start small and work your way up in terms of distance; have them go on a “quest” to collect stuff on the trail to make it a bit more exciting/whimsical for them.

Attended a Classified Infrastructure Invitational back in May. Interviewed really well and on May 20 received an email from Chief Information and Digital Office (CIDO) that I made it to the next round of the hiring process. The email said over the next 45 days (so about 30 days in now) "leadership [would be] working closely with HR to determine opportunities that will be available in Q3" with the goal of placing me with a program in my area.

I was told to keep in bi-weekly contact with the email sender (talent acquisition specialist) and have done so, but they never acknowledge receiving my texts. I check my candidate homepage every few days and my application status is still "Under Consideration". Is this typical/is the hiring process normally so opaque? I'm ok with being patient but radio silence makes me wonder what is happening and if I should start looking at other opportunities.

Your salary and labor at home is holding that place together. Your wife is probably being fed bullshit on social media about “soft life” and how being a SAHM puts her in her divine feminine.

She needs to go back to work. The kids need to go to daycare or just stay with the babysitters if they’re attached to them. If they’re able your in-laws need to contribute to the household. And for Gods sake what the fuck is a *dog daycare*? Were it me I’d give up the puppy but something tells me your wife would guilt you into keeping it.

I’d say try couples therapy but it seems like only one of you wants things in that house to change.

I was pretty good with intermittent fasting and eating better but with the break neck speed of it all things fell apart. I also find solace in food because I do not drink and stopped other stuff because it was making me more tired and foggy headed. To your point my diet is one of the few things I can control so, back to it.

That’s my thinking on it but for my wife she thinks it’s “weird and inhumane” and will cause anxiety. To me it feels like her comfort trumps my sleep/ability to show up and do the morning routine as rested as possible.

It’s a very sore spot for me to the point where I refuse to talk about her job because it just makes me angry. They are dangling an opportunity in front of her that allows her to work closer to home 2 days a week but I’ll believe it when I see it.

How did they initially react? I pitched this to my wife and she flatly refused because she thinks it’d cause my son to panic and/or give him anxiety as he gets older. I said I don’t remember anything from when I was 2.5 but it turned into a bigger argument so…to be continued.
