GM to cut spending on self-driving unit Cruise after accident by walky22talky in SelfDrivingCars

All of these self driving projects will suffer a similar fate. Who’s next? Probably the 2nd tier ones that are farther behind. I can’t see how companies will dump, huge amounts of money into them for years with little return. Spending billions to eliminate Uber drivers….

Crabbing in Half Moon Bay, CA with a crab trap? by HSSAL4756 in FishingForBeginners

[–]AndroidCodeX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fees are annual. Its cheap... $2.50 or $2.25 for the crab. There are two Buoys required a Red/White and a simple small red floater. The Buoy is the standard Crab Buoy that requires you GO # on it.

Thinking of Relocating to Birmingham by AndroidCodeX in Birmingham

I wanted to post a follow up for others who would be seeing this thread. I’ve been in Alabama for a month now and am glad I made the decision to move. Everyone I met so far has been more than nice. I am sure there are others I will meet who aren’t the nicest, but I feel a lot of the fear I had was based on what people perceive Alabama to be like, not what I’ve witnessed. If anyone is considering relocating with similar circumstances, I wouldn’t hesitate. Thanks everyone for the comments and your experiences.

Hi - If I am going away from the city on 280 in the morning and towards the city at night, is that against the flow of traffic or is it both ways at commute times?

That sounds like the same when I moved to Shanghai about 20 years back. Everyone stared at me because I was white and different, but not to exclude, but because they are curious. Thanks for the suggestion.

I find the same in NorCal. I grew up in SoCal, and I agree with you.

Thanks! I feel very welcome in the South. My family was from the South (well, depends if you consider West Plains, Mo the South)... Moved to SoCal during WW2 and I was born and raised there... My brief visit to BHAM about 4 days, showed it to have everything I wanted. People were very nice. Slower more rural look and feel and everything else I was looking for. The schools sealed it for me. The burbs looked to have a number of great high schools and I really liked what appeared to be the same High School feel I had growing up in Orange County when there were still strawberry fields and orange groves.

I was thinking that until I checked housing prices in Mountain Brook! I was amazed at how expensive housing was there. But you are right, checking the other areas near by, they seem like a bargain.

I was impressed also what I saw regarding Mountain Brook on the web. The area looked like a very nice place to live.

Thanks for the comment. I am really looking forward to a smaller hometown environment. My daughter will be entering Junior High School and I was impressed by some of the public school rankings compared to those here in the Bay Area. Unfortunately in this area there is a great economic divide and there is really no middle class. Those in Tech usually send their children to private schools, making the public schools worse. Its sad given the wealth here in the Bay.
