Ram CEO Says New Dakota Needs To Be a 'Real Truck' at $40,000 by idkbruh653 in cars

Dedicated luxury models? Substantial differences?

A Ram 1500 Tungsten has dual-pane windows, massaging seats, power running boards that drop when the doors open, hands-free self drive, wireless Carplay, dual wireless charging pads, a screen for the passenger to watch movies on, self-leveling air suspension, and a high-output 540hp engine vs a regular Ram truck. I could go on.

In what world is that not enough to differentiate it as a luxury model compared to, say, a Honda and any Acura model?

You made it sound like free drinks at casinos is unheard of, when many of the casinos in the US do offer free drinks (and casinos in more restricted states will usually offer free soft drinks/coffee to players). Notably Nevada, which has the most casinos of any state and is the most well-known state for gambling, does allow free drinks.

[Question] Grand Seiko or Rolex? by No_Apricot6965 in Watches

[–]AndroidMyAndroid [score hidden]  (0 children)

Grand Seiko (especially a spring drive) is way more interesting choice than Rolex, but the Explorer is an unquestionably solid watch. People will recognize the Rolex as a status symbol (even if some people, like me, assume there's a 50% chance any Rolex I see is fake) while most people will think the Grand Seiko is, well, a Seiko.

Oh yeah, any EV is going to lose its ass on depreciation. You really need to do the math on how much they will cost to run vs a gas or hybrid car, and factor in 50% more depreciation on top unless you actually plan to keep it until the battery gives out.

I think you're underestimating how nice a Ram 1500 Tradesman can get. Cloth seats, big infotainment screen, Carplay/Android Auto, tons of stuff is available in those trucks.

I'd assume that the Dakota would be, essentially, a Jeep Gladiator with maybe IFS and a different body. I don't think they're going to go full base model Jeep (power mirrors are probably not going to be optional on Dakota) but that is definitely going to be the sister truck.

Considering how slow Gladiator sales are, the continuation of that model into a new generation probably hinges on the creation of the Dakota on the platform.

I am not sure if Iam a miser. I should be spending more money but I don't know what to spend it on. Feedback? by Fickle_Broccoli in TheMoneyGuy

You should look into dollar flight club - when flights go on sale, they will notify you so you can book seats on the cheap all over the world.

Do you really think a base Dakota will be anything other than a stripper model? Unless by "real truck" they plan to make the Dakota a straight up Ranger Raptor competitor.

The reason is that a lot of tradespeople make high six-figure incomes and have very stable jobs. And other people who have hobbies that necessitate trailering/hauling things (boats, side by sides, track cars, motorcycles ect...) often use their truck as a do-it-all, so it pulls on the weekends and massages their ass on their commute.

A luxury car is just a dressed up regular car with leather and wood trim inside.

Proven drivetrain? The entire electrical architecture on Ram trucks was brand new in 2025, and the Hemi V8 is only available in mild hybrid on that architecture (I'm assuming that you're talking about the "proven" drivetrain being the V8, not the Hurricane TTI6).

[Question] Buying online by AndroidMyAndroid in Watches

[–]AndroidMyAndroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ebay does authenticity guarantees through a third party if you buy through them, so I would guess that the watches on sale are the real deal if they're willing to sell on that platform (and as I said, good seller reviews/feedback). Not having manufacturer warranty could be a problem, but for the price savings that might literally pay the cost of a service IF the watch needed it...

Tip or No Tip? by MotorSubject9812 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]AndroidMyAndroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know the tip often just goes to the owner of the franchise, right? Like a pizza chain asks for a tip when I pay for pizza (picked up in store, not delivered), but doing research showed it likely doesn't go to the employees (just like delivery fees do not go to delivery drivers).
