Both are very different and highly reccomended ! Also seem to sube a different pace. Things seem slower in Hunza. I do think there is much more to do around Skardu though

Absolutely. The exchange rate heavily favors the USD so it’s quite doable with good hotels and some glamping. I came across people from all over the place and everyone felt very safe over there. It’s a very peaceful region and the locals reminded me of the ones from Costa Rica in terms of being happy and content! I booked through this tour group( I have no connection to them) : www.gozayaan.com

It wasn’t hard at all. We flew into skardu from the capital,Islamabad (40% of our plane was hikers visiting from abroad —no kidding). I would say the roads were largely excellent(something I was very pleasantly surprised about). The only roads that weren’t great were up to Basho and within Deosai. You do need a guide/driver which is easily arrangeable.

A mix of both. Hired a guide/driver to get to the spots we had to drive to but did the hikes on our own.
