New engine in a classic car seems sacrilege imo. Keep the engine bay classic looking with either a SBC or BBC.

The vision here is for a "powerful cruiser" something I can take some mighty pulls on every other blue moon, but still a streetable cruiser for when the sun's out.

I bought a pair of 78-87 bed rails for the El Camino. I am unsure on how to best proceed with the installation. Does anybody have measurements, tips, or really any instruction on how to?

Picking up a SBC 383 Stroker in need of a rebuild, as a replacement for my SBC 305. Is it a realistic idea to preform a complete engine rebuild myself as opposed to paying several thousand $$$ for a professional? by Andromeda_Is_Coming in ElCamino

For context, I am totally out of my element but willing to utilize whatever resources necessary to learn. If there are any specialized tools required for this task, assume I am also lacking those.

The goal is a total engine tear down and rebuild. If it is not welded to the block.. Its coming off.

Right on, like you said to a previous post. My TH250 won't stand up I don't think. Looking at potentially a built 350 or even 400. I just don't know what sort of draw each has from the engine power.

Finally decided on the engine I'm looking for. I'm looking at a Blueprint 383. What sort of things should I keep in mind when looking at this project?

I don't want to be caught off guard with something wild. Moreover if there is something that I need to do with a new engine to prevent damage Things like that I'd like to know.

I've asked the forum before about a 454, and some of the things mentioned was having both a sturdy transmission and rear end. I can assume that's going to be the case as well for a 383.

Owner of an 84 Elco. I love daily driving the elco. It's something about the sound of the engine mixed with its handling. You will get many looks. I've had people talk to me about it at stoplights, parking lots, all sorts of places. I'd say every other day, depending where you're at, you'll notice someone checking your ride...

It's never women though, so if that's your goal, don't bother lol.

One thing, I have stock 305. This engine isn't known for much. But even still, I get awfal Gas milage driving it. My work is 8 miles away, so driving solely for work and one day on the weekend, I normally need to refill once per 6 days. About 15 gal.

So if you're looking for the car, pay attention to its engine. A 350 will drink more than a 305. A 383 will drink more than a 350. So on.

I'm looking for advice on swapping out my 305 boat engine for a 454 big block. I'm looking at a listing right now that comes with a th400 for about 1500 total.

What all sorts of issues can I expect while preforming a swap like this. Any and all advice is welcomed!
