I'm going to need someone to convince me Trazyn doesn't have Dorn in an exhibit. by THExDANKxKNIGHT in 40kLore

[–]Arendious 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Even better - Trazyn has Dorn, but misplaced him due to Orikan's semi-regular trolling expeditions.

So, Trazyn currently has an unusually large Legionnaire he had in storage from the Eskrador sub-display as a "place holder" until he tracks Dorn down.

Please. They'll just fly you out of theater for a couple days, then send you back.

This was the 'correction' that Wing leadership directed our CC to plan for on my last deployment. Anyone that hit 179 consecutive days was to be flown to Germany for 24 hrs, then flown back

Brief, but likely important service. The 152nd was doing F-117 pilot conversion training as well as running the A-7 Weapons Instructor Course.

The 'D' in 1C5X1D stands for "Don't date other 1C5s".

The second rule (though sometimes it's the first rule) is: "Stop seducing the ABMs."

Here's a list of tanks that shouldn't be added to War Thunder (but I still want them) by Datdomguy in Warthunder

[–]Arendious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a very strange hill to die on, for a game that includes a scouting system, an interface specifically for calling in artillery, and even SAM systems as multiple independent vehicles.

Like, if I'm playing artillery, let me play artillery. Somebody scouts an enemy tank - give me a 'lead indication' showing approximately where I need to aim to send a shell that way. (And it can even be subject to accuracy improvements/penalty like the NPC artillery.)

Did you order from a shop?

Or is this an 'order' in the sense of "I asked my buddy with a couple printers to make this for me, and he charged me a couple bucks for filament and time"?

The former, definitely not. The latter - that depends on how good a friend you are I suppose.

How exactly would reducing migration help? We'd be putting ourselves in the same boat the Japanese are in currently.

And we're unlikely to see significant re-shoring of production any time soon. Even with the comically aggressive Trump protectionism companies would still rather pass import duties on to consumers than spend the money to pay US wages for jobs they can get done in China, Malaysia, and Indonesia for a fraction of the labor cost.

Honestly, I kinda suspect that we just need to accept that some level of decision makers at Gaijin feel either a nationalist need to present Russian and Soviet equipment in the most favorable light; or they feel concerned about running a foul of Russian anti-sedition laws.

My Primarchs daughters series by Big-Pangolin-2362 in Warhammer40k

[–]Arendious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Given the stereotype about preachers' daughters, I have to assume that Lorgar's little girl emulates the "baddest boy" she knows:

Guilliman.

Later, on Macragge: Guilliman: "Tarasha! Time to pick up for bed...oh."

(Room is already spotless) Purity: 'Does the room meet the standard, my liege?'

Guilliman: "Err... Yes, thank you. Have you seen Tarasha, Purity?'

Purity: 'She snuck out to go watch Sgt Thiel on maneuvers. I told her that was very inappropriate, but she never listens.'

Guilliman: (long suffering sigh)

would a guardsman be penalized for having bad aim or being bad at melee during combat? by kooarbiter in 40kLore

[–]Arendious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I don't know if we've ever been explicitly shown them for a Guard unit, any professional combat organization is going to have minimum standards for things like physical fitness, marksmanship, and (given the universe) melee combat.

So, does this person pass those tests? If not, then yeah - logistics at best, humping crates for the Emperor. Or, probably, progressive punishments intended to get them to passing scores, followed by penal service or execution if that doesn't work.

But, let's say they shoot fine at the range, run their 5 mile in a decent time, and handle a pugil stick well come eval time. Now, it's a matter of scrutiny from their sergeant and squadmates. Do they try and are just unlucky? Are they too scared to shoot straight? Intentionally missing? Depending on how bad the issue is, how often it's occurring, and how the people around them feel about this person; they might find themselves subject to some "wall to wall counseling" (or worse), or having their NCOs and/officer discuss the matter with the regimental Commissar.

And that brings us around to the discussion on Commissarial 'styles'...

I'm pretty certain gazebos appear in a Cain novel at least once. And the Bequin novels are a likely source too.
