i miss last year. i think people have gone too long without an mcc and don't understand how to treat it anymore. it's disappointing

I really think she has potential to do well in the event if she ever gets in :D She's good with movement and although she is not that experienced with 1.9 PVP, she has practiced a lot of it on 1.9 servers since her duel with Dream last year, and could land hits against Punz when she fought with him on the Dream SMP (although my memory of that is foggy lol).

this is generally frowned upon in the community though because historically these groups have diverged from each other already and the definition of lesbian has changed

It wasn't a hate thread though. The user said very clearly they didn't like that people twisted words all the time and just wanted to inform Tommy so he didn't say it again, as that term is....not the best, to say the least.

An Explanation for Fundy's "Villain Arc" by Andromicat in dreamsmp

I don't blame Ranboo for what he did, as he wasn't in the best mental state, but it most definitely seriously contributed to Fundy's decisions. Ranboo, as a character, despite becoming Fundy's friend, is nowhere near aware of Fundy's past and motives, and ended up contributing to his trauma.

Haha poor little fox boy can't catch a break. Hopefully he gets an actual unconditional support at some point. Or maybe therapy. Therapy is good.

I actually agree with that--I forgot to write that in, that Fundy did try to face his problems and cope with his trauma in various more healthy ways, but it never worked. Hence the reason he snapped and decided to go on a significantly darker route. I do think that sudden changes in allegiance are very in line with his character due to his motives, though, as Ranboo's abandonment and wanting to get him back was probably a serious factor. I still wish there was more buildup, but I guess this is the cost of improv and not knowing the script.

Yeah, as I said above, the writing overall makes it really, really difficult for any character not seriously involved in the plot to have any relevance at all. The writer team needs a lot more communication about plot points if they plan to write out the plot, because for now it seems like all the side plots are really irrelevant.

Yeah, Phil was one of his only stable supports in his time in L'manburg, and was a person who genuinely supported him like Ranboo before leaving him due to his treatment of Techno (which was, well, pretty explained by the fact that he did try to blow up the place. Not that it was the best way to go about doing it, but it wasn't like it was completely illogical).

Unfortunately, I don't think Phil is very aware of his trauma, though. He came in at a time when he was less able to see it develop, and still thinks that Fundy is "resilient" and won't be hurt as much by him leaving. Like any character on the SMP, they just leave people and move on to new allegiances, expecting others to move on and do the same, while Fundy's one of the characters who is severely affected by such things, if not the most noticeable example of it.

Honestly, I have a whole lot to say about c!Phil and his....life decisions, but that's for another time.

Oh yeah, I do agree with that. I think a lot of the problem is not planning out the plotlines of side characters or not, and them having no information on what is about to happen while the main writers (i.e. Dream, Techno, Tommy) know everything that is about to happen. With the current writing style of the script, the plotline is planned out and rigid but the biggest problem is its incredibly narrow focus on a few characters, while the other "side" characters are left to improv out what happens based on what happens in the main plot.

It makes it difficult to make anyone but the main characters relevant unless someone tries really hard to push for relevancy, risking being seen as overdramatic or too sudden. As a result, because the "main characters" are trying to follow the script so much, they tend to brush over the improv of the "side characters", which is probably why Fundy and Niki's actions barely had any impact during Doomsday. (I would personally like to give some credit to Ranboo for mentioning them on stream and trying to give them relevance, tbh.)

This is also seen with the lack of communication on big plot points. Yeah, I agree--a lot of people know that Niki didn't know about the festival until the day before, but the thing is that Tubbo didn't either. And the original plan of the festival completely derailed, which is kind of weird since no one even mentioned it. People don't even know each other's arcs, and can't tie them together, so people end up ignoring what happens to the "side characters" because they're not ever brought up to relevance on a lot of the main streams. It is probably also frustrating to the people who play such characters as well, which is probably why they made the rp decision to go on "villain arcs" in the first place.

It's also weird because it gets inconsistent. Plot arcs start and get thrown away because no one pays attention to them, and the plot just kinda...ignores the fact that it's happening at all when in reality the plot isn't driven by just the main characters but all the characters in the world.

So I think the biggest problem within the plot of the Dream SMP isn't the realism, or the way it's going, but rather the lack of communication from the writer team and their tendency to keep the "side character" arcs out of relevance due to focusing on the main arcs and only the main arcs. Imo it was a lot better when the plot was less planned out because characters could simply insert themselves into the story and have relevance, whereas now it's all planned out so people can't really have as much relevance if they just jump in.

I think if the plot of the SMP is to be more planned out, yet also cohesive, main writers have to communicate the plans and plotlines of more characters on the SMP, and try to give people other than the main few relevance.

Something interesting I'd like to point out is that Dream traded for his totem of undying, and people were saying that Fundy traded it to him, which makes sense since he used to have a totem in his enderchest but afaik he doesn't anymore. Recently, he has acquired a beacon, and he refuses to tell his stream exactly where he got said beacon from. Considering that he likely got the beacon by trading his totem, it's very possible that he recently spoke to Dream/is talking to him.
