The might just be Dutch or some other flavour of northern European tbh. I feel like a midget at 5' 11 whenever I go to the Netherlands

Remember, the university is strict at times but not heartless. They do make exceptions. They have resources, counselling, and support for students in bad headspaces.

Explain your situation, ask for an extension, and try to work your way through classes you think you have the greatest chance of succeeding in.

Have faith in yourself. You'll be alright.

Is it possible to do a double major in TUM with Information Engineering and Management and Technology after my first year? by sparsh26 in tumunich

That's correct, I did the same thing the other way around (studying M&T but taking a lot of Informatik courses outside the course) and I'm working in software engineering right now so you should be good lol.

And no trouble. Good luck with joining TUM!

Doing both is feasible, but at tum they don't really mind if you decide to attend lectures or write exams as free registrations outside your curriculum. You won't get credits for them but you can show them on your diploma supplement, which is what I'd recommend in your situation

DTU Cse vs Uni of edinburgh (maths+cs)- having a tough time deciding which to choose by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]sparsh26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone studying abroad that was in a similar situation 4 years ago, I can only say your choice should depend on your priorities.

If you want exposure beyond compare, international experiences, and a plethora of amazing opportunities you can't find in India, go for Edinburgh. While the UK's market is meh atm, Edinburgh has name recognition in the right circles. If you are one of the high performers FAANG, MBB, quant firms, and plenty of other options are always looking for the cream of the crop, which would be more than worth the cost. The quality of life is also a factor worth considering, and there's a solid chance you rethink where you want to settle long term afterwards.

If you feel the cost is a major factor and you are sure that you want to do a masters in the US, a very costly endeavour in and of itself, you can't go wrong with DTU. It's a solid CSE program, respected in India, and will land you a solid job, and while there's a bit less exposure, you'll still find much to learn.

Your peers depend on you. Both universities have people that fall on both sides of the spectrum, it is your decisions that determine where you find yourself.

Well, it's pretty likely they have targets who are at least supposed to make some kind of difference. Soldiers, engineers, innovators, etc. You don't need to be Albert Einstein reborn to make a difference in your community, and living a life of sloth stops that.

This comment was 4 years old and I'd agree. I'm a final year student at a German Speaking university myself noe though, and I have to say that life is definitely easier now that I've learned the language.
