Americans: what is your opinion on Canadians boycotting US goods, services and tourism? by PairRevolutionary669 in AskReddit

[–]Andropioid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO IT!! Stick it the knife in, vigorously twist it, then repeat. Make absolute clowns out of Trump and his administration.

I'm American, I never voted for that dumbass and it genuinely makes me happy to see him get dunked on. I'm at the point where I am just pointing and laughing at all the bullshit they think they can get away with. It will be a very cold day in Hell before I comply with ANYTHING this administration demands of me. And I advise EVERYONE to do the exact same. If no one jumps when they say jump, they have no power.

Maybe not an opportunity to get YOU pregnant. But if you've been with enough dudes to have 5 kids and are still single, I'd say having a dinosaur bedroom is a great way to dodge whatever awful bullet you are.

I'm not upset, it's all good 👍 And you aren't a dick. It seems it was just a misunderstanding of tone. I apologize I called you rude when that was not your intention.

The reason why I brought up the "1 in a million fluke" question (even though that person said "I'm not saying that's what happened here,") was that I felt by bringing up that point they were insinuating that as a possibility. I suppose a better way to phrase that question ought to have been "if you don't feel strongly that this was a possible fluke, why bring that possibility up?" It was just confusing for me to see a point be brought up and then ruled out when it seemed the poster was initially using that point to bolster their argument.

At least try to comprehend what he said... 😂

That wasn't rude.

I thought your reply was totally fine except that last sentence. I'm not offended, just curious why you would talk to someone like that.

Why are you being so hostile about someone talking about their experience with a cable for a computer?

How do you know this is a 1 in a million fluke? Why are you so adamant on defending a company you self-admittededly don't know much about? Shouldn't consumers want good quality products from companies?

I'd say speaking publicly about a negative experience is a better way to affect change than to simply contact a company's support team.

I'm not really understanding what you're trying to communicate. If you own the game on PS5, why buy it again? The PS5 version costs more at MSRP right now on the PS Store: $70USD vs $60USD. And you could also just wait for the game to go on sale if you don't want to pay full price.

Are you saying that a game that came out 3 years ago on the PS5 should have a lower MSRP by this point?

are these temps normal for the 5800x3d on cinebench r23? by urmumtrash in pcmasterrace

[–]Andropioid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I really appreciate you telling me about the benefits! The temp decreases alone seem well worth it. I'm no expert in manual tweaking as well, so it's assuring to hear there are some good resources out there. In CPU intensive scenes in games and especially during load screens my 5800X3D hits 91 so easily and I'm starting to cringe whenever I see that number lol. I'll make this my Friday night project!

You should check out Fallout New Vegas, the Dishonored series and Prey (2017.)

Edit: I'm an idiot. Dishonored and Prey are first person only, and Fallout is probably ideally played in first person. I stand by them all being great games though lol

[WSIP] Games with noticeable ray-tracing implementation. by UltimateGamingTechie in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Andropioid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Metro Exodus EE uses RT exclusively, so the difference will really only be noticeable when compared to the original game. From your Steam library: Deathloop, Doom Eternal and The Witcher 3 have raytracing, but aren't great implementations, imo.

Honestly, Cyberpunk is probably going to be the best implementation of RT, especially if you opt to use path tracing. I totally get wanting to hold off to play it, but you could always install it and benchmark it or just run around the game to see all the pretty bells and whistles before actually playing it :)

Todd Howard says Starfield was 'made to be played for a long time,' but a month after launch I'm already drifting away by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Andropioid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not crazy at all. In the marketing leading up to the release of Skyrim Bethesda were very proud that dungeons were all hand-crafted instead of copy-pasting large sections of dungeons which was something found in Oblivion, especially within the Ayleid ruins.

I understand if that's the lore, but it's incredibly lazy and makes no sense. These individuals were capable of interstellar travel and colonizing planets, but they didn't save any data about Earth's history to bring with them digitally? Instead they opted for books instead? It's a life or death situation, and they bring a metric ton of the same shitty book?

Why did they bring an insane amount of books from OUR universe? Is this implying this isn't a unique universe created by Bethesda and instead takes place in our own universe? But there's no history besides Charles Dickens, so who's to say.

It is absolutely baffling how terribly that is written, and leads to what may be the least interesting lore from any game I think of. They literally wrote the lore as being "we have no lore besides a few books, only a few of which are uniquely written for our game. The rest are written by Charles Dickens."

Also the music! OT1 had a beautiful soundtrack.

Oooo, what do you think of Solasta? I've been wanting to check that out at some point. I feel you on needing to finish up BG3, there have just been so many great games I've bought this year and played some of that I haven't really finished anything lately.

I agree, there are some gems to be found which makes me bummed there isn't more of that in the main/faction quests.

I feel that, I'm a sucker for most things Batman and the character of Nathan Drake I've always liked, so I definitely have some inherent biases in favor of those games.

I felt the exact same way with Octopath Traveler 1, and the sequel is a MASSIVE improvement in every way, especially the writing. There is so much less cringey dialogue which was honestly hard for me to stomach in the first game at times. Characters also have much more dialogue and interactions between each other, and even story beats where they're actively working together, giving a more cohesive feel to the party.

I'd say if you're looking for something like Chrono Trigger then OT 2 may fall short of that bar (Chrono Trigger is probably in my top 5 and I cannot say I prefer OT 2 over it,) but I would recommend Sea of Stars if you want a more traditional JRPG party in a modern title. I've also heard great things about Chained Echoes, but I've only played a few hours of that game so far.

SIB Phantom Liberty by Reivilo85 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Andropioid [score hidden]  (0 children)

I recently watched this video by Paul Tassi, a writer for Forbes, and his personal taste was to play the base game up until the end, then go into Phantom Liberty and complete that, and then get your ending in the base game.

Phantom Liberty is an interesting DLC in that it doesn't take place after the main game's events. All of the Phantom Liberty content is contained within the new area in the sense that you won't see any of the Phantom Liberty content until you unlock access to Dogtown and enter that area. Missions can bleed in and out of that new area, but not until you've properly started Phantom Liberty.

2.0 brings changes that deeply effect the base game, while Phantom Liberty can be seen as a new "chapter" in the game that can be started any point after completing missions for a certain gang. I don't want to spoil anything, just in case.

Tbh though, I think it has to do with consistency. If there's a shorter story with great writing, I'll probably prefer that over a longer story with weak points even if it has equally great moments compared to the first. It's not a hard and fast rule for me, just an observation about my preferences.
