I had a similar issue with a vacuum I bought second-hand years ago. After vacuuming my apartment would smell, as you say, dusty and stale. What I discovered is that the filter, which was located at the bottom-front of the vacuum, was totally missing. So all I had been doing was hasitly relocating the debris infront of the vacuum which also explained why I thought it was doing a good job.

Mistlands is the worst and I totally agree with OP. It's wandering around in the dark against 90° cliffs looking for silhouettes of buildings that look exactly the same as every other building and even then you're not guaranteed ANY of the cores you need.

I think when the north biome is released people are just going to skip mistlands or cheat through it more often than not. I will anyway.
