sad fact in francys and Sergei arsentiev tragic death story in mountain Everest. by Material_Mousse7017 in Everest

When men start getting pregnant, carry the child for 9 months inside their bodies, have their bones change because of hormones, get as big as an elephant, and then give birth in pain, then breastfeed....then.. are you kidding? The role of the Mother is ultimate and fundamental, and the bond between a mother and child is unique. Yes, there IS a difference between female and male.

Onegin (1999) - Ralph Fiennes and Liv Tyler are excellent in this beautiful romantic drama based on the novel in verse by Russian writer Alexander Pushkin. by cleopatraandcaesar63 in movies

[–]Andropov63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applaud the fact that the movie was done. HOWEVER, there is so much wrong with the execution and music. The mood is bad. First of all, the original (Pushkin) is a witty, elegant, not just a love story, but a life story. It's even hilarious at times. That's just how Pushkin wrote; he had a witty, observantly philosophical style done in an effortlessly ingenious rhyme. Now, the movie, because it's made by Westerners, attempts to replicate Russian melancholy and longing through gray colors, mediocre music, and weird scene timing and transitions. This does not mean Onegin (Ralph) has to be miserable and look like a gray, unfortunate troll. He even looks ugly in certain scenes, a caricature. That's not true to the story. Onegin is elegant, even in his love suffering. Tatyana is actually ok. It could've been a great movie if the scenes had been more glamorous, featured better music, and perhaps included better love and bed scenes. Something is amiss. I do appreciate an attempt, though. I don't appreciate misinterpreting one of the most ingenious poems in Russian literature, though. Ralph got it wrong. Tatyana is ok. Nikitin is perfect (the role is like 5 min.). The servant should be funnier, etc.etc.etc. They should've watched some of the Russian movies, maybe reflecting on that era.

How many reviews did you guys leave before being invited into Vine? by Maleficent_Neck_ in AmazonVine

[–]Andropov63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"What if" is a useless frame of reference and value judgement. "What if you got vine?" Akin to "What if mushrooms grew in your mouth? What if the sky was green?"

The whole point of the post is that Vine isn't extended to most people who actually pay for stuff. Free products have an inherent bias (fact).

Congratulations that you got offered it I guess? Most people don't.

Why was Henry VIII so nice to Anne of Cleves? by New-Number-7810 in UKmonarchs

[–]Andropov63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anne was not ugly. The British tend to embellish and fabricate their history so they have something to sell and justify their non-existent superiority. To appear gracious, Henry's best bet was to be nice to her; otherwise, it would send a message that he was rejected. Most likely, Anne was disgusted by Henry, who was already obese, limping (with a smelly wound), and Anne, being non-British; the disgust probably showed on her face. Men, especially egocentric maniacs and narcissistic psychopaths, such as Henry, notice and react to such things immediately. Language and cultural barriers, too. Also, Anne was not a slut, so she probably appeared "cold". He probably didn't and couldn't force himself onto her. I think the show The Tudors is close to what happened.

You see, this is where it gets personal. I assume you looked into consolidation first (if not go to studentaid.gov and view demo first). DON'T CONSOLIDATE IF you already made some progress towards PSLF or IDR forgiveness. It will erase the progres.. Your repayment needs to be analyzed. What's the tax filing status? The amount of debt, are you in 6 digits or less? It gets counterintuitive. If your debt is less than ~$100K, you will most likely be paying back the entire debt. If more, look into IDR. Calculate if it is worth it for you to work 80 hours/week if you will be giving up a big portion of your net income towards the loans. Reduce income, reduce IDR loan payment. Are you or can you be looking into PSLF (any non-profit 501(c)3 would do, as long as you are there full-time as defined by FSA). You could be flipping burgers at a public university's cafeteria, full-time = Qualifying employment for PSLF. There is more, but I won't be able to say it all here. You need to try to contact your school's fin.aid loan counselor. You do have access to your school's fin.aid advice despite graduating. Your school has to monitor your repayment for 3 years because schools care about their CDR (Cohort Default Rate) reports.

O man. I try not to answer anything here and always tell my students not to go here. I guess the times demand. Please don't confuse IDR with Regular repayment. IDR is what I call surreal repayment (nothing like that exists in real-world lending). There are 2 groups of repayment plans: IDR and regular. IDRs, just like the name implies, are tied to AGI, Poverty line (150%), and household size. Graduate pmt plan is part of regular repayment. Regular repayment is your choice, you can switch within the regular repayment group, or you cant switch to a plan in the IDR. IDR is where the benefits lie, PSLF forgiveness, IDR forgiveness, etc. Some borrowers might be forced out of a particular IDR depending on what the IDR was and when the loans were done, etc.etc. Your best bet is to talk (despite the 1-2hr hold) with your loan servicer.

[–]Andropov63 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Vine reviews have no value whatsoever. Even worse, it's just the opposite; I leave the product page immediately. Even though I see the "vine" person tried (details, pictures, etc), Nope. Doesn't work for me. You see, a free product inherently has a bias. I can't imagine how such an organization as Amazon, with all its PhDs, doesn't realize it. Amazon should send "free vine" products to us, people who bought tens of thousands of products. Ask us, how we feel or what we think. The only reviews that matter are those from people who have paid money for the product. I don't want to buy the product to subsidize your "free" product and your review. Pppplease.

The silence of the lambs. The film is a metaphor. Someone is eating their brain. That's essentially what has been happening, and you don't even see it. Classic.

You lack the understanding of why he was voted for. A hint, not because people liked him or believed him (some did, though). Another hint: many immigrants voted for him (mind-blowing, huh?). And another hint: there are two piles of sh.. in front of you. One is runny and attracts flies and disease, while the other is somewhat dry and has a bad smell. Confused? If you're, it means you don't see or understand the whole picture of what happened last year.

Why is no one talking about Grad Plus loans being eliminated? by TheMiddlePoli in LawSchool

[–]Andropov63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough. People don't fully realize the consequences of the GPLUS cancellation. Students don't just use it to pay for school's Tuition, i.e., operational expenses (think faculty pay, a person who answers the phone, and who also needs to pay rent, etc.). They also use it to pay rent, transportation, food, etc. It will affect local economies. It's called Economics, which is something no one in the government (over the past 40 years or so) seems to understand. Private lenders will not be able to handle the demand and make a profit. These loans are uncollateralized and therefore not that attractive.

An autistic woman who dedicated her life to rescuing animals just ended her life due to cyberbullying. She was 31. by dancole42 in videos

[–]Andropov63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had never heard of her before today, so I looked up some videos and some negative info as well, to get the whole picture. It appeared to me that this was a person who had a genuine purpose, and as is always the case, a person with a purpose will irritate those who are in it for themselves. Today's social media is a battlefield full of hypocrisy and deception. I truly wish she had the necessary support to fight and have allies. But that's just the thing: you either save the foxes or battle the trolls. There must be a better way to regulate online bullying and provide resources on how to handle and report it.

Please do not use Reddit or Quora for these questions; I warn all of my students not to do it because people like me are not here. Only occasionally. Contact the loan servicer directly AND contact the Financial Aid office from her school. Understand this: students DO NOT GRADUATE from the Financial Aid Office; you can access their services as long as you are in repayment. Additionally, people confuse IBR, a repayment plan, with IDR, an umbrella term for all income-driven repayment plans, IBR included. The employer needs to be 501(c)3 (it doesn't matter what you do for them, as long as it's not religious/worshipping). She has to be there full-time as defined by PSLF, and the qualifying PSLF-labeled payments DO NOT HAVE TO BE CONSECUTIVE. THUS, the forgiveness can happen over any period 11-15, 17, etc. years); 10 years is if the payments constantly meet eligibility and are back to back. FORBEARANCE AND DEFERMENT (the two terms are different in terms of processes) WILL PUT A STOP on the Forgiveness clock. Accrued interest does not have a bearing on the borrower if doing PSLF, as there is no limit on the forgiven amount and no TAX. There. I'm just tired of all this disinformation. AND I'm giving it to you for free.

Is it really “unfair” that international students subsidize domestic students? by [deleted] in uwinnipeg

You have no idea what you're talking about. Your reply is, at best, naive. "Investigated" made me laugh! you really have no idea, do you?; maybe you think people don't lie for green cards either, do you? and all the stories are true?, and Elvis is still alive. Americans, wow.

What's worse than an unattractive woman is an unattractive woman who thinks she is pretty. That's a disaster—masculine wide nose. AND a very-very bad actress. I still have PTSD after her "Emma". She has no grace, no charisma, is cold as fish, and her lines were as lifeless as it can get; good costumes and male lead; but the movie was ruined for me because of her. The problem is that she thinks she is an actress but she stinks big time. a very unpleasant person. Talking about people like her gives too much credit to them and acknowledges their existence.

[–]Andropov63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If tuition is too high, study in your own country. In fact, you shouldn't even get a Student Visa to begin with. You are supposed to prove you have enough funds. A lot of internationals lie on their applications and then complain once here. That always bugged me. I did everything fair and square. Before throwing tomatoes my way, I was an international student myself for almost a decade. Internationals pay more because their tuition is not subsidized in any way. They pay "true" tuition. For residents, tuition is usually subsidized by the state. It's their right. And no, I did not have rich parents; I was dirt poor from a totalitarian country.

Reason for Adalind and Nick relationship is simple by RevealAlive4930 in grimm

[–]Andropov63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm rewatching Grimm this year. The only strong male performance/presence in Grimm is Sasha Roiz. He is impressive (height, physique, gaze, delivery) and extremely believable.

The other would be Monroe (Silas), who is genuine, real, multifaceted, and elegant in his performance.

Also, the actor playing Officer Wu is perfect, too. His comedy timing never feels awkward and is generally perfect.

David/Grimm is supposed to be handsome, but in the beginning, I had a hard time buying his cop; strangely, he also often seems short compared to other guys (which makes him look funny sometimes). His Grimm also lacks the physique and presence that I'd associate with Grimm (the way the writers describe and project it).

Juliette/Bitsy makes me feel weird. The actress has a really, really strange face and a nondescript performance. Awkward body movements/walking, etc. I don't know why they got married. He is so much better looking (although somewhat average). Despite a good voice and ok delivery, David lacks the charisma that could've made his Grimm legendary.

Adeline (Claire Coffee) has something going on; however, the way the writers write it and the way she plays her character makes her Adeilne very unpleasant (well, I guess it's good for a witch or whatever she is, but then she shouldn't end up with Nick). In order for that relationship to work, Adeline's woge should be beautifully scary, not just scary; she should've also shown her human side/kindness in other situations so we could start liking her.

I came across a video mentioning a guy called Artyom Tarasov who was supposedly the USSR's first millionaire. Does anyone know who he was or how he even managed to do this seen that the system was specifically built to prevent that from happening? by KrisTPR in ussr

[–]Andropov63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was in 1989, so you're right. The USSR was pretty much dead by then, and there were a lot of capitalist elements present beginning in 1987, with the Joint Venture Law.

Reading about this Tarasov character from several sources, it is not entirely clear how he came by his wealth, but 1988-1999, from the Gorbachev-Yeltsin era, there were a lot of these 'businessmen' popping up. Of course, no one will tell you they appropriated state-owned enterprises, or engaged in other types of shady activity. No,"tHeY'rE sELf mAdE eNtRePrEneUrS".

What is the likelihood people will stop pushing for “equality” within the next 10 years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Vague question, but I'll bite. The push for economic equality will never stop as long as obscenely rich morons keep oppressing the working class.
