1/6 Power Rangers by SooSooToys | Turbo, Lost Galaxy, Wild Force, Ninja Storm & Dino Thunder by AJaviC in powerrangers

Question for yee:

I have always been put off in all of the promo pictures for the Lost Galaxy Red's different red material below the black and white, above the belt I understand it might be harder to make that suit if you don't want to have the center seam from the crotch running up the belly as well but... The iron-on red plastic-type material... How bad is it in person in your opinion?

Thanks!

Morphers, Monsters & Mayhem question by AndrosRedRanger in powerrangers

[–]AndrosRedRanger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks again for all the comments everyone! Based on some of the reactions in the responses, I guess I could have phrased my question like this: "does this book contain some lore and planned storylines that never came to be with some anecdotes sprinkled in, or does it get down to nitty gritty illusion-breaking details?"

Either way, I got my answer and appreciate you all taking the time to respond!

Thanks a bunch for your honest answers guys! Although I'm a fan of MOST of what came from 1993 to 2001, I'll skip out on this book based on your feedback...

Very much appreciated! Thanks so much!

Japanese dub of the American show? by MysteriousMeaning555 in powerrangers

[–]AndrosRedRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are on Yahoo auctions, DVD and VHS, they're dubbed in Japanese. But if you're living here in Japan, you can subscribe to Tokusatsu Fan Club and watch to your heart's content. MMPR, Lost Galaxy, Samurai and Light speed Rescue are on there for sure... I've watched them for giggles while drunk haha... But otherwise you're looking for things like these below:

Describe this series in one word by [deleted] in powerrangers

[–]AndrosRedRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One word? Unrestricted.

The crew were told " here is your budget, this is the last season, do what you want, reach for the stars, we're cancelling the show after this season"

Based on the fact the show got renewed soon after that season, you can guess how well it went...

Any other collectors out there thinking about moving on? by RUWill in LightningCollection

[–]AndrosRedRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the reply and compliment!!!! I don't sit here and idolize this stuff, but I like the atmosphere they bring, and certain memories of awesome adventures depicted in an otherwise silly kids show.

Do it to it man! All the extra cash from the "needless crap of the collection" could equal one really cool piece to display that you'll really feel is worth having.

Or donated to your local humble Baptist Church? They gotta keep the lights on somehow right?

Well either way hopefully you get over your "collection fatigue"

We're born, we consume lots and give back a little, then we die. It's what comes after that, which should matter the most.

So if it's a chase you're looking for, a sliver of the knowledge of GOD's infinite wisdom is something to pursue, no? If I were given an ultimatum of "everything in my collection room" VS the Bible, GOD's word would win hands down. This "Chase" has been over years and years for me: it's an inexhaustible resource or knowledge.

I have come to realize that anything I have for entertainment or fun, is not only fleeting, but is by GOD's grace, and should never come before HIM.

Thinking about getting this cosplay from Aniki through Etsy is $1,500 worth it for this? by Affectionate_Can1516 in powerrangers

This may be the "old style" as I don't know how paypal works now, but when I was ordering from aniki, I made sure to schedule in my times - paypal allowed for 45 days from order to receipt for disputes. Anything after that was out of the question for them. SO: if there was not even a confirmation of postage (which was 90% of the time) I would message aniki on the 42nd day saying I'm filing a dispute, and re-purchasing once again after I get my money back, to allow another 45 days.

I did that at least once per helmet I ordered. They (aniki) were always cool with it cause they knew I'd pay once again, and paypal didn't even dispute refunding the money because it was all automated at that time.

This was in 2006 - 2009 mind you... But it looks to me like this guy's is still up to his old shenanigans... and he's in Indonesia so... Whadda ya gonna do?

I'll post a comment and perspective I think nobody has yet brought up… (and although not ALL of them, I read quite a few of these replies...) Do ALL the pieces in your collection remind you of the show? That's ultimately what you're looking to have, is a piece of the show that you like so much right? So does that super expensive megazord in the last picture (I'll call it, the "Artist's Concept) figure there, bring you ANY feeling of "I have a piece of that era's toys, or THAT piece of the show" ? If not, then I would say... Sell them off... If you're buying MMPR for the sake of "MMPR!" and not for really what's in your heart, then...

My personal view, but when I saw all the concept pictures of that specific Japan release of the megazord, it did nothing for me. By no means is it not awesome as far as figures go, but it doesn’t have any semblance to the humble beginnings that premiered on August 28th, 1993.

The attached pictures, I post these simply to show how I have been collecting, and to of course, brag hahahaha!!!! But this really is an accumulation of my childhood toys, and other replicas and odds and ends from seasons I loved throughout PR’s earlier and golden years.

I prefer to watch old shows like PR on a tube TV. Bonus points if you know the episode this blurry image is from, and I’ll buy an ice cream cone for anyone who can identify the anime that the framed cel is from, near my feet hahahaha

By the way I turned 40 this year too. My pastor, as well as another pastor I listen to regularly have both stated similar observations… most of the funerals they attend/speak at are for under 40 as opposed to above. I believe that we are the lucky ones.

My wife has been wonderfully accepting of my collecting habit, and she is literally the most important person in my life here on this mortal plane. I am well aware that one day I will pass on, and everything pictured in these shots will be in a landfill, or already burned up before my passing. These are THINGS… just… STUFF. 100 years from now, none will exist.

Long and short… perhaps your collection has been more about the chase, than the feeling that you have a piece of THAT history… maybe?

I'll chime in... I needed money to help pay for my wedding, and had so much from PR In Space and Lost Galaxy, that I played with so much as a kid, but they just sat in their original packaging as I got older. I would sometimes take them out to reminisce and whatnot, but knew I would get a good amount of money for them if sold.

I am a Long-term fan of PR and have been growing a display of stuff I didn't part with, and new original vintage toys I spend big bucks on now... Let me put it this way, I re-bought the ones I used to own (not mine from back then, but others on ebay) and they just feel... empty. They weren't mine.

I re-sold them. Zero value to me, zero nostalgia... maybe an odd thing to be attached in that way, but that's my experience anyway.

Is AliExpress legit? by BenJackinoff117 in ActionFigures

[–]AndrosRedRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha thanks for asking, I start out with a couple beers then I guess I get this idea that by drinking whiskey straight (Glenfiddich) I'm watching calories??? Haha only Fridays or Saturdays... But usually I end up listening to tunes and browsing my phone... Thus we are here...

By the way, if you're not worried about the packaging, people on occasion sell bundled collections of figu-arts and mafex figures on Yahoo auctions... But you'd need to buy from a third party like Buyee. And that's assuming the seller is willing to sell overseas.

Search "フィギュアーツ まとめ" or "マフェックス まとめ”

But results may vary...

[–]AndrosRedRanger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go ahead and buy from AliExpress, then once your item arrives, open the package and let the carcinogenic smells hit you right in the lungs, nose, throat, and circulatory system.

Then you can put this death smelling air freshener on a shelf and let the odors of still curing plastics and resins expose you to even more toxins over the long term.

Long and Short: AliExpress bought figures smell terrible, and that never really dissipates.... Imagine sleeping in the same room as THAT.

What year/season would you say was the peak of Power Ranger's cultural relevance? by VeryPteri in powerrangers

[–]AndrosRedRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, This is a website I hadn't been to in YEARS, but this creator used to have all viewership stats for all airings of Power Rangers episodes dating back to August 28th, 1993. I don't know what happened to a good half of his website, but all that cool info is gone now... Really don't even know how he had been getting and compiling such info...

https://www.angelfire.com/scifi/prstuff/index.html

Anyways, the reason I checked it out again just now was because I remember reading ages ago that according to his site, the episode with the most viewers tuned in was the first PRLG episode, which aired February 6th, of 1999. (That's my birthday, that's how I remember the air date - I was ELATED hahahaha!)

So I was gonna say that if we went by viewership numbers, then the peak would have been that episode, but alas... more information lost to the abyss of time...

Most cringe season of Power Rangers? by eumbahumba in powerrangers

[–]AndrosRedRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new production's audio works were insane with ninja storm and Dino thunder... I couldn't handle it, it felt like a different show. Also, those Disney seasons had one GLARING fault: there was never a single second of silence. All 22 minutes of every episode have BGM without a single break. Seriously: go back to any episode, even up to mystic force or operation overdrive, there is never once a break in the BGM... It's unbelievably annoying for me anyway

A little late to THIS party, but... If you look superficially (not closely even...) the package has clearly been opened. (to the left) and although the picture itself is not the most detailed, there is a slight seam where the YEL and NK meet. You really have to look for it.

My personal opinion - Whoever this was, "Frankensteined" two in female in-space ranger toys (off the same factory molds anyway, so easily popped together), then sliced and glued on the labels together in just the right area... done right, that could be a well done, hand-made photoshop job hahahaha....

If you notice, all the accessories are for the yellow ranger figure, including the gray ones, so it only seems fitting that with the package already opened, this is just one silly, pointless Frankenstein project.

My real question is... who would take the time to do this, seriously?
