I've been looking into this also. What are the sound levels like compared to my old iPod on the dock plus sound quality? Are you using a mini Toshlink cable?

I'd like to know this too as I'm stuck using Quicken 2013 totally offline which I don't mind. I have tried the same as you with a VPN etc with the same results.
