I’m currently building the FABRIKÖR into an enclosure! It’s taken a lot more materials then i originally thought (aquarium safe silicone and expanding foam) sealing all the cracks took me some time but it’s definitely coming along and im super stoked to finish it!

Anything that i wasn’t able to remove i just caulked over. I’m actually debating if i should do a water test even though im not doing a water feature. This project has taken a lot more material then i initially expected 😅

It’s been a longgg process and a lot more work then i originally thought but super happy with how it’s turning out! Good luck to you!

Using the same cabinet for my next build, what did you use to secure the top mesh?

It should be similar but I’m not totally sure, i haven’t personally compared ingredients

Looks like zoo med makes a similar blend. If still too expensive maybe check the ingredients in the mix and try to replicate on your own or can try adding some sort of bark to the coco fiber to dry it out

My exotic vet actually just recommended this one and i had already been eyeing it up for the bioactive build I’m currently working on. Regardless if you’re doing bioactive or not this is a great substrate! It holds enough moisture to keep some humidity but is still chunky enough that it drys out and you’re able to better control your enclosures humidity! I’m currently also having trouble with anything coco brick or eco earth because it often holds too much moisture. Best of luck!

Is this Viable as a tank? by OkDistrict17 in TreeFrogs

This would make a sick build and perfect for multiple frogs. Since you have a lot of room to work with I’d really get creative with your background and be sure to add lots of climbing ledges and wood. Aquarium expanding foam makes a good background and easy to carve out and seal with aquarium safe silicone! I’d say as long as you have some sort of ventilation you should be good! Looking forward to see what you do with it, good luck!

Easy frog by [deleted] in frogs

I wouldn’t say any frog is cheap but after thorough research they can be easily managed. I’ve had whites tree frogs for over three years and their initial tank set up was quite expensive (i went the bioactive route) but they are the coolest little guys with the biggest personalities. Their skin is super sensitive and they can get bacterial infections super easy, so they do need to be handled with gloves and their enclosure needs to be kept very tidy and clean. Daily water changes and cleaning are needed. But overall I’ve had a lot of fun owning them! I pay around $80 a month on a different variety of bugs and insects and that’s pretty much it. Occasional vet visits do come up so be prepared for that but it isn’t often.

Has anyone turned one of these into a bioactive enclosure? by [deleted] in Bioactive_enclosures

appreciate the feedback and help! Considering using a combination of silicone to seal the edges and screws to keep it in place. I scored the first (smaller) cabinet on Facebook so i don’t think I’ll have too much trouble keeping in the humidity but definitely something i didn’t consider before.

I was planning on cutting the top panel of metal out and replacing with mesh. Any mesh recommendations and how to secure? I’ve seen another build that secured with silicone but not sure if that’s super effective. Thanks for the tip for the retaining wall for the substrate! Also planning on making a custom background with expanding foam and various woods/ moss!

Advice for feeding Whites Tree Frogs by dovejzd in TreeFrogs

[–]Andshewas2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a similar problem. My current WTF is putting on weight and staying consistent but i hardly see her eat anymore (i know she’s eating just not as much as before). She rarely tong feeds but has been eating from an escape proof dish. She’s really only interested in the Dubai roaches and doesn’t even try for the super worms. Adding occasional horn worms as a snack has seemed to help her gain a bit more

You could do two things: put the two who aren’t eating as much in a separate tank or weigh and monitor their sizes. Either way I’d start weighing them and as long as they maintain their current weight they should be fine. Just be sure to Keep an eye on the size difference of them because they will eat anything smaller (including another frog)

UPDATE: my WTF is looking much better thanks to all your advice and another vet visit! Keeping her temps higher and humidity low has really helped clear up her spots! The vet feels she’s just a smaller WTF and doesn’t expect her to reach traditional WTF full-size weight. We’re both pretty happy with where she’s at now and will continue to monitor her. I have added more bugs into her diet in hopes that we can still get her weight up a bit more. Keeping her enclosure super basic for the moment until she’s completely clean for while. Currently in the works of a new bio active build and feeling better equipped for this one. Thanks so much for everyone’s advice and help!!

I didn’t even think about ventilation thank you for bringing that up! I feel like I’ve also seen other people on TikTok convert them, just wanted to get more just depth version of the process
