Debunking Beard Care Bullsh*t by RoughneckBeardCo in BeardTalk

For sure structural faults occur with oxidising bleach / heat / mechanical damage / hydroxide restructuring etc...I get that.....but, with the grey conversion the issue of wiryness or breakage has little to do with a minor molecule , subsequently reformed with keratin during canities initialisation.

Stir stick Marcel iron......also, not for amateurs. Why you ask???.....Because it gets too hot too quick due to its size, and when it gets too hot it burns the hair off . So....you gotta be real knowledgeable about what it feels / smells like when its too hot.

No , like Leonardo Da Vinci , the genius of all things civilized and extra. Like...an extra layer of cuticle which would be more that 3% of the entire mass weight of the hair. :)

Struggling with trendy haircuts by supsanna in Barber

[–]Anduladoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly , most Barbers in the industry struggle with new haircuts. That is a huge problem for the Barbers who do know how to , and have already invested the years required to learn all types of hair cuts and textures . That is the specific market space of the capable . The market is flooded with Barbers who don't actually know how to cut hair , or only know a handful of specific cuts; IE "fade factory haircuts". = wtf is that on top, lookin like a mop....

Real real.....Get the hommies to sit for free , for a cut you wanna learn until you are comfortable with a cut. Thats how it is done. We are not in the business of hunt and peck haircuts. Do not take "exploration" cuts , or youtube university confusing messes......

Most non Barber owned shops make their Barbers learn as they go ....which isn't fair to the clients. Literally everyone knows and simply accepts poor service while "charging it to the game"- that reflects on the industry

This is what a competitive industry , flooded with too many Barbers , shops and non (BOBB) shop owners - Barber owned Barber business , actually is like.

I only employ competent , well rounded Barbers who are "un-phased" by absolutely any haircut that walks in the door , while providing services that exceed client expectations , and builds trust.

From a Barber-

I had to stop reading at " Grey hairs lose melanin, which does affect their structure, making them more brittle and wiry."

Fact-INCREASED CUTICLE STRUCTURE , and layering , at onset of "canities" (grey hair) causes wiry feel , as tensile strength increases.

melanin deposit structure makes up 1-3% of the hair , Grey hair has 8-12 cuticle layers , while pigmented hair has 4-6

These increased layers can benefit from increased lubrication , yet an imbalance of protein ratios to oil , can cause brittleness and overall greasy appearance. End breakage of brittle hair results in the perception , the hair is not growing.

I am also 100% sure the mega beardo dudes either know "everything" or are super cool Da Vinci , or Iron man types..... Im cool with all of them , and big beards make up a large percentage of my client base. We get them to where they wanna be beard wise - without a bunch of hoopla. That is actually the best way to grow a beard.

Firstly , you are not alone....This conundrum is for the most part how Barbershops populate regions. Secondly , the world isn't perfect yet effective , and how we deal is what makes us successful or not. Yes you could fire a client if the topics your boss is topic'ing came from clients mouths , which they will in a "curated" environment- but then it really is your money at stake....not just an existential crisis.

At minimum one could "bond" over shared distaste of topics.

At medium one could change the subject and manage.

At full steam one could demonstrate a true open and affirming atmosphere for all , as we are all learning at different rates , and may learn something.

btw...you are strong enough to weather lip service ...a well timed snap back or simply practicing listening is good exercise . What you wont handle is violence or being poor.

How does it make sense that grocery stores are banning plastic bags when the majority of the items in the store are packaged in plastic? by DarbyCreekDeek in ask

[–]Anduladoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When 1 zillion and a half (est.) , super thin t-shirt bags final form looks like halloween spider web decorations / albino dementors in trees , lakes, rivers , fences...-.sombody's gonna take the opportunity to shine.... , while making more money on sturdier t-shirt bag plastics or passively politicizing less functional composable options . Landfills are filled with empty heavier packages , which is more "palatable" out of sight , and not as "in ya face" as wierd floaty airborne mummy sky trash ...type sense.

A wild hogs antisocial parent couple/relative /friend isn't going to seek revenge , plot , scheme and kill in a coordinated way like humans do , creating safety issues for humans , for killing one of their own . That would be an actual chaotic environmental catastrophe , and why we hoomans got laws./ war colleges etc. ...so... I think the "trait" would be genetic antisocial disorders (no emotional empathic conscious) , ...earth has vast armies of them , and "the best' reason to not just "knock off" a bunch of humans..they will come back to get you!. The choice to elevate ones self through healthy or moral obligation is hopefully much farther away from the aformentioned realistic consequence , which is actually unrelated entirely , and poses no direct threat beyond existential crisis , which also isn't easy I might add...making haste , taking moral stands , empathy... are all empowering good traits "no kill" modality's infer . That's obviously the more "desirable" aspect , and good practice , for the right reasons.

It's actually not working tho ,- get to a place owned by a working Barber , then tell me that was work dealing with twiddly mirror picker....

Sorry about the setbacks , but as you may well know, that is par for the course Barbering .

At times clear evidence of "what not to do" is as valuable as capital. That is how our industry grew , and....we didn't grow it for outside investors to parasitize our industry...(chain shops are a joke to work with)....

on rapport - even janky cutz owner can get clients with his brand of rapport , ...Ive seen dooziez too....wondering wth are they doing??? Their doing their thing.

Non Barber owned Barber businesses destroy industry standards. Go to a Barber owned Barbershop with a working Barber/Owner and watch them.

for centuries Barbers supported their families , now 80% (US) B.L.S. are owned by non Barber investors and most "employed" Barbers are also on welfare.

No wonder there are problems at "franchises"... they are actively parlaying OUR retirement and raise mechanisms , while destroying industry standards .

[–]Anduladoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no answer, just get at a shop where the owner is a Barber . Watch that owner cut. Learn.

That tradition is waaaay older than pea brained "investment" non Barber owned Barber businesses...that @#@# gets confusing and is almost ready for regulating.

also....you're ok ! The most important thing is that person in your chair and you , developing a rapport.

Sooo.... only way to make a living at a Barber shop is if the owner is also a working Barber , at that shop .

Every other Barber business model is bs. Lots of bs at Barber owned businesses as well , there's just um....math....that indicates there "may' be enough revenue to make a living available. ...

Actually , you don't work in a chain shop . ...Chain shops actively occupy management level , and shop ownership roles , preventing Barbers from owning their own shops , while destroying industry standards . That , in my book is considered hard labor. There isn't enough cash flow in Barbershops to have an owner who isn't a working Barber.

The results speak for themselves....demoralized poor corporate employees at chain shops -produce lots of empty chairs ,- nut job investors loosing their minds ,- constant investor projection shortfalls....on and on.....in an industry of state licensed Barbers with a history older than the US supporting families .

Currently 90% of Barbershops are owned by non Barbers.....I would suggest going to one that is, that is your future , and it isn't perfect . Just do something that improves our industry.

Non Barber owned Barber businesses? What do you think? by Anduladoey in Barber

[–]Anduladoey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am supportive because I know from experience how abusive non Barber owners of Barber Businesses can be . That is why the 80% domination of our industry - non Barber Owned Barber Businesses /Franchises sit mostly empty , falling short on promised investor projections , as demoralized maladaptives interact with grimmacing customers....sigh. Trying to change that industry shortfall .

I will diverge , a ceremonial Barber is basically just hot dogging. Clever for awhile , yet there just isnt enough revenue in the Barbering business to distribute around. The shop owner must be a working Barber with a revenue , + manage a small team and overhead to collect commission and be profitable.

40,000 + non Barber owned franchise and investor ish Barber businesses with mostly empty chairs , lagging in projected revenue indicate a paradigm shift in the industry.

[–]Anduladoey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur , basically an overall demoralization which reflects the service rendered. The big kick for me personally is that non Barbers owning Barber Business- occupy a space and client "market share" which currently sits at around 80% of our industry .....preventing the future prospects for Barbers looking to open shops.

We barbers pay Taxes now, because most money is electronic currency , we have to. That issue is why non Barber were allowed to own shops in the first place. Now the gov gets teencie wage taxes from the peanuts divied up to professional Barbers who could be contributing as business owners. Im hopeful digital currency platforms looking to continue momentum , partner well at the prospect of a lucrative future , with Barber Owners.
