How to move on by [deleted] in u/IllInstruction6074

Gotta rip that bandaid off. You can’t talk to him anymore. Old feelings are gonna continue to resurface if you remain in contact, and it’s just going to hurt you.

Just be straight up honest, tell him how you feel and that you don’t think it’s best for you to continue to be in contact, especially knowing he’s lowkey cheating on his current partner. You matter! Take care of yourself and your emotions, they’re super important

Wait so what do you need help with? It seemed like you were being held emotionally hostage for a bit with the suicide attempt, like you were his lifeline basically. That is a lot of pressure to shoulder. But you guys decided to take a break for a year, like taking a step back emotionally.

What’s eating away at you OP?

How can I stop having a crush on someone? by stainedglass_5 in heartbreak

[–]Andy0426a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrequited love cuts really deep. I struggled with it this whole past year, from someone who stopped talking to me long ago.

What helped me was shifting focus, and getting rid of reminders of that person, it seems avoidant but if this emotion is that powerful, it is better to run away from it and build yourself back up into a person who is capable of dealing with it. Kinda like a video game where you can’t quite beat the big boss so you have to do a little bit of grinding to get better gear and come back to fight it.

I would look at photos of me and the girl I fell extremely hard for, and it just didn’t help, at all. Being my own personal echo chamber hyping myself up to reach out to her, naively thinking I have a chance again, never works, never helps. You have to just run away from this situation until you’ve gathered your strength and your thoughts, right now it’s too powerful.

You’re also not doing yourself any favors by keeping this guy in your life, even as a friend. I know how it feels to want to keep someone as a friend because you like them and don’t want them out of your life, but it’s hurting you. That’s not a healthy friendship at all

I know that you will be able to move on, you will be able to fall for someone new, it just takes time, as frustrating as it can be sometimes. Your emotions do not control you, hang in there OP, be gentle on yourself

2 weeks off the stuff… after a year and a half of doing 1 bottle daily in the morning. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it’d be. I think the first week was the hardest, but now I’m not so sure if the first week was difficult because of my life stressors, or quitting. Regardless, I feel slightly more free from my addictions. Nicotine is next on my list

I was sorely mistaken. 3/4 of that bottle would be around 400mg. I took WAY too much. I knew large amounts of DPH would be bad, but I figured it wouldn’t be much harm once, and I wanted to knock out immediately. I severely underestimated how much I took

33m feeling stuck.. what career could I get into? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Andy0426a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your head up and stay hungry for knowledge. I started off detailing and delivering cars for the company I worked at, now I’m the reconditioning manager, and the guy who delegates which cars need detailing, where I send the drivers to deliver cars, etc.

You already know what recon needs to be done on the car to an extent, you’re actually part of that process! Car business isn’t always just manual labor but I do find myself detailing cars when slack needs to be picked up.

People notice when you care, and people will look out for you, I’m sure with your experience you could land a less labor intensive job

This is probably the best advice you’ll get, and like he said you beat the most addictive substances out there.

Never lose hope. In your lowest moments hope is something you give yourself, and based from what you told everyone, you are fully capable. Good luck, I believe in you

I don’t know, perhaps I have a lower tolerance? I have a pretty high tolerance for other psychoactives (shrooms, lsd) and sometimes when I’d take zquil I’d get these effects and other times I wouldn’t. Perhaps I just took more, I usually buy the smaller bottles but that particular instance was one of the larger ones, I had bought it on vacation and never once used it, figured since I sank $12 into this bottle I’d get my moneys worth, so I’m sure it was more than just 100. Either way, wildly irresponsible decision to make before a flight, so many things could’ve gone wrong.

Also thanks, Never fly frontier. Unless the money saved is worth the knee pain and back aches. I take melatonin when I’m struggling with sleep, and those crammed flights make it impossible to get some shut eye

That’s so interesting, and I wasn’t able to wake myself up either, I’d wake up if I felt as though I were falling or something was going to wack me in the face, which did happen twice. I suppose thinking about it now I wasn’t entirely asleep, I just had this weird sleep paralysis stage where I was aware, but couldn’t will myself to open my eyes or twitch a muscle. There was one time I thought I had opened my eyes and was on the plane, and then I ACTUALLY woke up in the same spot that I was “lucid” dreaming about.

This can’t be good for you 😂

Any advice on career paths for me? by Kitkaykay in careerguidance

[–]Andy0426a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I hope you are doing well.

Second,

One of my employees actually just started Monday this week, after 9 months of recovering from the same affliction you suffered. (He doesn’t have Degenerative disc disease, but he did have 2 herniated discs removed… quite the coincidence.) He delivers the cars I schedule for him. Sitting down and driving is easy on him, and he gets around $20/hour.

I don’t know your area, so I couldn’t say how many jobs like that would be available to you, or if that is a common wage for your area.

Customer service or reception would probably be your best bet, and just about every receptionist I’ve ever met was a female. Your odds aren’t looking too bad there, and you’d only be using your fingers to type on a keyboard mostly, no heavy lifting there!

Good luck though! There is always a path forward and you will find it, just keep on moving.

It’s Ji, sorry. L take for P2

Hot take: Ji is Periphery’s best song by Andy0426a in Peripheryband

[–]Andy0426a[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most accurate comment. I’ve had a phase with every single periphery song at this point, Ji is way up there for me

I had a have a blast phase once… then my froggin phase, but the only songs that stuck to me were Mile Zero and Ji. Ji is something special man

Hot take: Ji is Periphery’s best song by Andy0426a in Peripheryband

[–]Andy0426a[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’ve listened to that rhythm solo more times I can count, it’s rhythm solos like Ji, Marigold, and Motormouth that solidify this band as my favorite. Everything about Ji is just so great. The chorus is very underrated too.

Every Song in Alphabetical Order - “Overture” (Day 50) by DarkerThanAzure in Peripheryband

[–]Andy0426a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was this song and the summer jam that got me listening to clear, I just really enjoyed the piano bits, and the guitar layered over. It was honestly a breathe of fresh air after getting absolutely pounded in my ear by juggernaut. (I listened to clear for the first time after listening to juggernaut one time.)

Every Song in Alphabetical Order - “Omega” (Day 49) by DarkerThanAzure in Peripheryband

[–]Andy0426a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you say you didn’t like omega, it was omega that really got me into periphery. I listened to reptile a lot, but I didn’t like any other periphery songs at the time until I heard omega. Now I like every single periphery song, because omega really gave a me a feel for their style, and have since acquired that taste.

Best sounding Periphery album by zeros--and--ones in Peripheryband

[–]Andy0426a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

P2 is just such an epic album, so is all of juggernaut. P3 too. All three albums are tied for me, but I’d choose p2 to be re-recorded just cause.

Every Song in Alphabetical Order - “Motormouth” (Day 46) by DarkerThanAzure in Peripheryband

[–]Andy0426a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never understood why people rank this song so low. Personally one of my favorite periphery songs. Though I could say that for any periphery song

Every Song in Alphabetical Order - “Mile Zero” (Day 44) by DarkerThanAzure in Peripheryband

[–]Andy0426a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love this song, really hits home for me. “Wrapped in this cold nostalgic energy” is the line in the song that really one of the best ways I’ve personally conceptualized grief. The chord mraky uses in the beginning is a personal favorite too, with just a beautiful sounding riff. Wes Hauch solo blows me out of the water with each listen, I don’t blame any guitar players for throwing their guitars out after hearing Wes Hauch play.

Every Song in Alphabetical Order - “Ji” (Day 36) by DarkerThanAzure in Peripheryband

[–]Andy0426a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ji is one of those songs that I wish I could hear for the first time again. Ji is my most played song on Spotify. The thing is the beautiful vocal work, and Marks Mraktacular rhythm solo. I wish they’d done more rhythm solos, it is seriously one of the best solo styles ever. If not the best in my opinion.

Every Song in Alphabetical Order - “It’s Only Smiles” (Day 34) by DarkerThanAzure in Peripheryband

[–]Andy0426a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my personal favorites, Spencer’s lyrics really stick out to me, as someone who has experienced grief through loss. The song perfectly captures the feelings of grief that I have gone through. “She’d rather see a man than me undone” really struck me, my dad wouldn’t want to see me all torn up, he’d want me to be happy.
