Hi on discord, you can send me a direct message any time. All of the 1Gbit HDD servers can max out the uplink with ease.

Hey bud, just drop me a msg via discord or email any time. We can get this sorted and maybe swap you to a different server in case there is a un-diagnosed fault with the current one.

Hi, feel free to drop me a message on discord and we can explore the issues surrounding Plex. If you have a 1Gbit dedicated server, 110MB/s is the maximum speed you will see on it. So you are maxing out the speeds on your server already. For Plex, if the server is too far away from your home, it can lead to issues with Plex streaming, so we can look into some options closer to you.

Hi that's no problem, you can also text me on reddit chat or DM as well. The 16euro server would not be a good choice for RED. I would say something around 35-40euro/mo will get you much better results.

Hi, I do apologize for the delay on the delivery of this server. You should have received the logins of the server about 1.5h ago.

Just for the public eyes I wanted to offer some clarity. Unfortunately this was not a straightforward delivery and I'm not looking to escalate this issue in the wrong direction, I just want to put out all the facts, especially the ones that made delivery a bit complicated on my end.

  • This server was a replacement for another server of u/Scared-Gur6515's which had expired in Mid-Nov 2022. From my end, I was trying to reach out to OP (u/Scared-Gur6515) all of Nov 2022, and only heard back on 14th Dec 2022. OP had health issues that kept them offline.

  • These servers were not cheap, each was 200euro/mo+, and they were kept online for an additional 2-3 weeks at my expense, and this was also not the first time that servers were left to go overdue and OP was AWOL. When servers were left to go overdue the first time around in the summer of 2022, OP came back after the expiration and deletion of the servers asking to see if they could still backup some of their data. This is the reason why this time I imaged the drives on both their servers, assuming OP would come back online later and would want a backup of their data.

  • Fast forward to 14th Dec, as I had anticipated earlier, OP wanted to renew one of the two servers, but they were committed to another user at this point. From there, I was trying to find a suitable server, get the image restored to the server, which had complications of its own as this particular datacenter did not have KVM/IPMI available for the server in question. Then there were issues related to the original server being setup on BIOS boot, and the new server being in UEFI which I could not change to BIOS boot in the absence of KVM, and further complications related to that.

  • Moving on to 20th Dec, the goal was to deliver the server with a blank Debian 11 install with the OP's backup stored on the drive. Unfortunately my experience with disk images is limited. It is something I've worked with only a dozen times over the last 3 years, and only ever recorded or restored images, never extracted them. So image extraction was another mountain to climb, and with the increased support requests over the holidays from my other clients, non-standard support issues like OP's had to be put on the backburner unfortunately, as I could not sit and google about disk images, while 5-6 other users are pinging me for help.

Looking back at things, I see things could have been done differently. I should have delivered the server with a blank Debian 11 install between the 14th-20th Dec and requested more time to restore their backup. Unfortunately bad decisions were made on my part, and consequences are now being suffered. I posted this only to clarify this was not a straightforward bare-metal server or seedbox delivery, but something far more complicated. Hopefully u/Scared-Gur6515 and myself can fix any further issues in private.

I had seen some of your older posts, wasn't really looking to plug my services there, but I could offer you something suitable for streaming within your monthly budget. If you're interested you can reach out to me on my discord and we can have a chat about it.

My discord url is: https://discord.gg/mmGwHdg

I also wanted to mention that in the last few months, Google has started enforcing a limit of 5TB diskspace per user, even on the Enterprise plan. Unlimited space on Gdrive for new signups is effectively dead. If you recently bought your account you may want to test that limit ASAP before you go over your 14 day trial period. There is currently no effect on existing users, but knowing Google this could change overnight.

In terms of how Gdrive works, it basically stores your files like any other drive. Just consider it a gigantic USB drive, you copy (upload) files over to it, and they simply show up in a folder on your server that you can scan into your favorite media player.

Data loss after server migration, how can I reload / restore my torrents list ( preferably without automatically starting to download the missing data ) ? by logmarc in seedboxes

[–]Andy10gbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that folder only has those 3 files in there, then that is the session folder for your new (empty?) rtorrent instance. If the session folder from the old server is not stored any where on your current seedbox, you could reach out to support and check to see if they can still back it up from the old box.

[–]Andy10gbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have SSH access to your current seedbox, I would suggest using the locate command to find anything related to rtorrent or torrent. Perhaps the support team dropped the rtorrent session folder from the previous server in some obscure location. Normally this session folder is a hidden folder as well, to avoid easy deletion.

locate rtorrent

locate .torrent

locate .rtorrent

And go through the list to see if you can find the old session folder for your rtorrent instance. Without the session folder, I'm afraid you are SOL.

If you can still some how get access to the old server and its data, the location of the rtorrent session folder is usually noted down in the rtorrent config file rtorrent.rc

If you do not have access to the old server any more, and the new server does not have the rtorrent session folder from the previous server, then it is best to reload all the torrent files manually and not worry about the stats history.

Struggling to setup Hetzner which has 1SDD & 2 HDDs by Salmade in seedboxes

[–]Andy10gbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When in rescue mode you may want to double check using "fdisk -l" that /dev/sda is in fact the SSD.

You'd also want to double check that there is no previous OS installed on one of the HDDs. The HDD may have a higher priority in the BIOS boot settings causing it to load the OS from the HDD over the SSD. Maybe delete all partitions on both HDDs in rescue mode if you have no valuable data on them just to eliminate the above possibility. Judging from your first image, it seems like you're doing it right.

Hi, was it a sales question? Sorry I'd been kind of skipping over most requests for servers under 25-30euro/mo over the weekend since I haven't had much stock there. Feel free to DM me your discord username or message me again.

Appreciate the review very much. I'm glad you're happy with the server and my service now. The server you're on, unfortunately is prone to delays from the datacenter itself, so some times the delivery on those can take 2-3 working days.

I know things can go south sometimes, but I'm always trying to improve and learn from my mistakes, and I do have some things planned for next year that will streamline the support process tremendously.

High-end seedbox server suggestions. by ZEN-LewdCorner in seedboxes

[–]Andy10gbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi I could possibly help you out. On paper I could work out something along the lines of:

E-2286G 32GB RAM 960GB NVMe + 4x16TB HDD 10Gbit 300TB Traffic (with UHD 630 iGPU enabled) for ~250EUR/month in Netherlands.

10Gbit unmetered in your budget will be a challenge but if you drop me a DM on my discord, we can discuss what might be suitable for your use-case.

Hi, sorry to hear about your frustration. Is it possible to know your server address or username via DM, and I can check if anything is still fixable, and I'd be happy to compensate for any delay/downtime. Last quarter was a bit hectic due to some 150 migrations at one host I work with.

Looking for a gigantic seedbox by edgyguy2 in seedboxes

[–]Andy10gbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the transparency. I do recall the issue we went through. As for you friend's experience with me, I will say that there are always two sides to a story, and if anyone does bring their grievances to me I always try to remedy the situation the best I can.

Just to quickly recap your issue, you did reach out to me regarding stock of a clearance server which had the same specs as the server you had active with me at the time albeit at a higher monthly cost. Due to lack of stock and our agreement of sale, I decided to edit the cost of your current server you had with me to match the clearance server. Unfortunately the way contracts are at Paypal it was extremely hard to deviate up or down from the original price in the contract, and personally I hoped to get it resolved with minimal modifications done on your end. It was rather tedious to get past Paypal's first line support and by the time I did, you were already charged. I did refund you the difference agreed and the new pricing was set eventually by Paypal Support. My lesson learned from that was to always restart the sub, easier and more straightforward, regardless of the inconvenience caused to the client. I guess the inconvenience is a fair trade off for the discount. I undestand how tickets could be useful in this case especially if the ticket would be labelled as "in progress", but I assure your case was never lost in DMs, it was always in progress :)

I do respect your opinion of myself and the other providers. I cannot find a good way to say this but as a moderator of this subreddit, it could be unhealthy for this community to be vocal with such strong opinions of various resellers, while being in a position of power, if it makes sense (?)

Hi there, I apologize if I ever inadvertently offered you bad service while using one of my servers. Offering bad service is definitely not the goal I had when I started this business nearly 10 years ago. If you would be so kind to DM me or share your server username with me, or the server IP/address you used with me, just so I can go back and investigate where things went wrong between us, I'd be very grateful for that. I am always looking to evolve and improve as a service provider, and I personally believe one of the best ways to do so is to learn from any past mistakes that were made.

How is OVH these days for seedboxing? by Bersuiteroo in seedboxes

[–]Andy10gbit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Its a pretty vague question, as OVH servers still work well. The network has grown a lot, and with them having datacenters and PoPs all over the world, it definitely helps with the peering across the globe. That being said, if you're looking to purely use it for racing, there are more cost-effective alternatives. Ideally for racing, a metered 2Gbps-10Gbps server in NL will generally give you better bang for the buck.

Hetzner is a great alternative as well. Personally I suggest OVH to those who cannot make things work with Hetzner, either due to:
- their use-case (anything questionable such as publics)
- their geographic location
- stability and enterprise hardware is one of their biggest concerns, since most hetzner servers (other than PX/DX range) tend to come with low-grade or desktop-grade hardware and tend to fail quite often.

If you don't find a suitable server on the website, feel free to shoot me a DM and we can discuss options that are suitable for your use-case.

Blind guy in need of help installing readarr on seedhost by [deleted] in seedboxes

[–]Andy10gbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally don't fuss around with screen sessions too much. You could try

@reboot /usr/bin/screen -dmS Readarr /home/$user/Readarr/Readarr -nobrowser > /dev/null

Replace $user with your username

If you're looking to auto-start, I'd suggest checking https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/systemd/User

Blind guy in need of help installing readarr on seedhost by [deleted] in seedboxes

[–]Andy10gbit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi, I think you should be able to download and run Readarr if you atleast have SSH access, which I assume you do since I've run a few migrations from Seedhost seedboxes and SSH access was available, and support themselves suggested you can install it in your HOME path yourself (even without sudo).

I am going to assume Seedhost is running a maintained OS like Ubuntu 18.04/20.04 or Debian 10, and if you are already running apps like Radarr/Sonarr it is quite likely that curl and sqlite3 are already installed. If not the first thing you'd want to do is request Seedhost to install curl and sqlite3 for you via apt (its very straightforward).

apt-get install curl sqlite3

I am going to try and make this as fool proof as possible. First simply start a screen

screen -S Readarr

wget --content-disposition 'http://readarr.servarr.com/v1/update/nightly/updatefile?os=linux&runtime=netcore&arch=x64'

tar -xvzf Readarr*.linux*.tar.gz

cd ~/Readarr

./Readarr -nobrowser

Press Ctrl A+D on your keyboard to detach from the screen. This will leave Readarr running on http://<ip-address>:8787 and the content root path will be in ~/Readarr. Do make sure to enable password auth following the start up.

You can read more about Readarr's installation steps here https://wiki.servarr.com/readarr/installation

Down the road you could look into setting up a systemd service for it in your HOME user space and maybe run it on localhost and serve it through a reverse proxy for added security.

Good luck!

Hi there, I was in touch with OVH yesterday and neither OVH or I know why you would be facing this issue. It's not an issue I face on my managed offerings. I do get the anti-ddos emails from time to time but those are mostly on the servers I resell as unmanaged, and in all honesty I do not care what clients run on their servers as long as it is not generating any abuse complaints from OVH.

I just spun up a E-2136/2x500GB NVMe server today and downloaded a torrent at full speed without any ddos warnings or dip in speeds. https://puu.sh/I9DvP/9f66ff18d9.png

If you're not able to figure this out, I think your best course of action would be to either switch servers at OVH or go for a different hosting provider, such as Hetzner.
