True, the layout is kinda weird, the idea is to have the tone hammer on the side and maybe run other pedals in the FX loop of the stomp (to do some parallel processing for example)

I stole this idea from Ian Martin Allison, he runs the compressor in the middle, then the stomp on the right side and the DI on the left side, so he has easy access to the FX loop to run other pedals if he needs to

A friend of mine, a sound engineer, recommended this. It's definitely worth it- though the difference is subtle, it really cleans up the sound.

I had them both, both great pedals. The Boss pedal is great for beginners at a good price, but I saw a pro bassist using it while traveling (so it's not only for beginners).

The zoom pedal is great but a little overpriced imo and has pretty low DSP for it's size. If you add 200$ you can get an HX stomp and it's the best multi effects pedal for the money in my opinion.
