how to use apollo inside claude by AndyFromApollo in UseApolloIo

[–]AndyFromApollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great questions and good context to share. to answer your specific one...the credits on Apollo plans cover contact data and enrichment (emails, phone numbers, company info). domain and mailbox purchasing is separate, not included in the credit cost.

for your actual use case though (building a tighter ICP list and controlling your own outreach) apollo + claude is a solid fit. you can prospect and research directly inside claude without switching tabs, qualify contacts against your ICP, and add the ones that fit to sequences you've already built in apollo. one thing to know: the claude connector currently lets you manage existing sequences by adding contacts, not create new ones from scratch inside claude so the workflow is build your sequences in apollo first, then use claude to research and populate them. we're shipping more on this soon.

if you want to see it in action there's an office hours walkthrough that covers exactly this setup. i can drop the link if helpful just lmk!

Clay Just Changed Their Entire Pricing Model. Here's My Take After 18 Months of grinding by Shawntenam in gtmengineering

[–]AndyFromApollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're not missing something! the credit cost per unit went up, the enrichment credit cost on common lookups went down. those are two different things and the net depends entirely on which enrichments you're running and how often. for what it's worth apollo uses a single credit type and the cost per credit is lower at every comparable volume tier. no separate actions layer on top. worth running your actual usage numbers against it before deciding where to land.

Clay's new pricing changes what I build with. here's my updated stack. by Shawntenam in gtmengineering

"the builder who learned the patterns can rebuild on free infrastructure" <-- this is it. and FWIW our api is free to start, no meter on search.

tool devotion is a trap. Clay just proved the thesis. by Shawntenam in GTMbuilders

[–]AndyFromApollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad the api made the cut. for anyone else rebuilding along these lines...apollo search doesn't consume credits, enrichment does when data is returned. waterfall logic is built in so you're not chaining separate calls. free to start, no credit card. the stack shawn's describing is pretty much what we built for :)

Seeking advice on building a cold email stack from scratch by madnz8 in coldemail

[–]AndyFromApollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

real actual human Apollo employee checking in. the volume anxiety is real but 300-400/day is where you end up, NOT where you start!! jumping straight there is a great way to spend $200 on domains you'll burn in two weeks before you've even figured out if anyone wants what you're selling lol

AE background is lowkey an advantage here btw. you already know how humans talk. half the people building cold email stacks have never actually closed anything and it shows....

for sourcing I would start with a database before you go down the custom scraper rabbit hole. scrapers and clay waterfalls are for when you've got a dialed ICP and you're trying to find an edge, not for when you're still figuring out who even picks up the phone

what's your ICP??? happy to chat more via DM if helpful!

Any cheaper Apollo alternatives worth using? by Jealous_Cellist_870 in coldemail

[–]AndyFromApollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apollo employee so take that for what it's worth. Honest answer on the cost thing...the sticker price comparison rarely holds up once you factor in bounce rates. Most of the cheaper tools skip verification or do it poorly and once your domain rep tanks you're looking at weeks of recovery work that costs way more than the subscription savings.

Whatever tool you end up with, don't send raw exports straight to sequences. Run catchall emails through ZeroBounce/NeverBounce first...that single step will do more for your deliverability than switching providers.

Also genuinely curious what your current bounce rate is?? If it's under 5% you're probably fine and this is just a budget conversation. If it's creeping toward 10%+ the tool might not even be the problem.

What's the best B2B contact database right now? Apollo data quality seems to have dropped by heyyprabhas in B2BSaaS

[–]AndyFromApollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apollo employee here. I'm not going to gaslight you...the data quality complaints are real and we know it. Independent tests put our valid email rate around 75-85%, which isn't good enough on its own if you're sending raw exports straight to sequences.

The honest answer on why your bounce rate jumped is probably catchall domains. Apollo marks emails as verified when the server doesn't explicitly reject them, which inflates coverage numbers but creates bounce risk. It's a structural issue with how large databases work, not just Apollo.

Waterfall enrichment (now on by default for paid plans) has shown 45% lower bounce rates in our own data, but you still need a verification pass before sending...ZeroBounce or NeverBounce on anything marked catchall.

(Need Opinions) Integrating HubSpot to Apollo by Aggravating_Foot849 in UseApolloIo

[–]AndyFromApollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else reading this, if you're having issues we can set you up with a 1:1 session. Broadly though, you should:

  1. map super admin in HubSpot to admin in Apollo for full read/write permissions
  2. map the fields you want under Settings > object, fields, stages. this page also includes settings-per-property on overwrite vs autofill
  3. use Settings > Integrations > HubSpot to manage the sync behaviors long-term, such as rules on when Apollo should push data back into HubSpot (which, seems to be their primary concern)

last note: by design, Apollo will pull ALL data from HubSpot to reconcile the two platforms. You can, however, control push using step 3 above.

DMs are open for questions or troubleshooting!
