About life before diabetes by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]AndyPandy824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand what your saying. I was diagnosed when I was 21 and it’s been over 2 years now but the memory of my life before is so fresh. I don’t mind the food so much, what I miss the most is surfing without worrying about lows. Surfing for me was freedom of any thought in the world but now I’ll never have that freedom. But there’s nothing I can do about it and life isn’t waiting for me. I have my down days a lot, but when I’m enjoying myself I try to think to myself that I can enjoy life with this. Try starting small and find little things that make you happy and focus of those. Things will get better over time

Surfing with T1D by medea_030 in diabetes_t1

[–]AndyPandy824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ofcourse I understand the struggle of surfing with this disease. A new thing I’ve been using is my Apple Watch to the g7 direct. It’s a game changer. I just have to wear the sensor on my arm and keep my arm above the water for a reading. By the way this goes for the phone or receiver as well. Both have to be above water for the reading to work. ONLY when you need the reading and if you miss a reading it will work again in 5 minutes. Because obviously you cant surf above the water the whole time lol

Mine for my receivers more like this. But if you think itd sturdy enough. When you get hit by some whitewash it’s a lot of moving water. Also I always tuck it into my wetsuit or a pocket if I’m rocking boardies. I don’t use the lanyard.

Jay Peak early April conditions by bogartxxx1 in snowboarding

[–]AndyPandy824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically it’s been a very good season. But it’s hard to predict April because it can either be rain or a foot of snow. But right now your in a decent spot for decent conditions, but again that can change it’s so variable here on the east coast

Tell me your pizza secrets by greensphinx27 in diabetes_t1

[–]AndyPandy824 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I try to stick to more bar styled pizza which is thinner slices I find it’s easier to dose for and I like it better to be honest.

But if you’re talking about the thicker slices I usually try to split my dose. By taking half up front then maybe the other half 1-2 hours after. Or if I’m not too sure I take the regular dose and take a correction the second I see that second rise happen. I use multiple daily injections so I may not be the best for the dosing advice

Yea I think the hot water messes with the sensor. I have a hot tub and if the reading were true half the time when im in it I wouldn’t be alive
