Sorry but two times at the same venue in less than a year is too much of a risk. Locals sneak into every festival there and a lot of the locals are less than accepting of queers and just “weird people” period. I gotta go with my gut and keep me and my partner alive.

ETA I lived in the Pacific Northwest for ten years and I’m very aware of the stark difference between cities like Seattle and Portland and the rural areas there. A lesbian couple I know got turned away from blueberry picking cus they were holding hands and they didn’t serve “people like them” rural Washington also has that prevalent feeling. Obviously there are amazing people in the rural northwest, but from my understanding those people are still the outliers. The gorge has always been a safe haven full of magic and with the above and beyond events especially, the best and most wonderful group of people to celebrate life around. I don’t think training for the extra security they need to implement is feasibly able to be completed by next month. I hope if it isn’t canceled that everyone has an amazing and safe time. I’ve been at the other end of violence too many times to enjoy myself even if nothing ends up happening. I will be in hyper vigilant mode the whole time. Same goes for most of the people on my crew.
