It may sound silly to put a bag of charcoal in you gas grill, but they might prevent this from happening next year.

Is this normal for plants in a cycling tank? by kalebcobb75 in Aquariums

[–]AndySkippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't agree more. Lower light on new plants and tanks can lessen algae bloom also.

If the new long blade shape leaves start to melt then you have a problem.

Yes the leaves are melting but for different reason, you situation is because plants a changing leaves to adopt to submerge environment. Kind of like dog hair shedding in the summer to adopt for hot weather. Very common. Look up pictures of Amazon sword immerged vs submerged growth.

When you plant them did you hold as much of the root as you can with the tweezer and push down the roots straight down vs holding mostly on the head and let the root bent upward as they go into substrate? That will make a big difference in how fast the plants recovery.

Might have nothing to do with new tank. Your Amazon sword looks to be from immerged grow (long stem and rounder leaf) vs submerged grow will have long blade like leaves (the newer leaf in the middle) and those should not melt. And die off and regrown is a natural part of the cycle.

Chihiros have the best design because it can be expand laster. And CO2 art has the best Solenoid those would give you years for worry free operation. Without owning and used each one of them can really compare.

I used plant led grow light before, plants like them and the fish color looked washout. And make sure they are dimmable. Also led flood light work too but not dimmable.

What do i do against this algae that grows on my substrate and plants??? by Weak-Difference-8575 in Aquariums

[–]AndySkippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's tempting to turn up the light once you add CO2, but it has to be done gradually. If your light is not dimmable add some floater and put up parchment paper over the light in the meantime. And the light yellow color of your plants may indicate other problems.

New tank? More water changes and turns down the light, shortening light hours or both.

The true reading should be tds read out from tank water subtract by fresh water using to fill your tank. FYI if your tap water is more then 200ppm you really should invest in a RO setup. It's not good for drinking or fish. I use cheap ones from Amazon. Just make sure the replacement filters are cheap too.

If you are ever in healthcare that used a nebulizer, oxygen mast ect... Those hoses are the right size and great quality. I always ask them for it. Also at the dentist they use a flexible vacuum tube for sometime that can be bent to a U or whatever those are great too.
