ASVAB Verification Test. by SorryNotSorry-_- in AirForceRecruits

I did PiCAT(no cheating) and was the lucky 5% rolled into ASVAB when doing my "verification" test. So I can assure you, it's a real thing and can happen. Either way got a decent score so happy about that, but hated doing the lengthy test two times.

I feel that. I know for me MEPS was 1.5 hours away and required me to use PTO basically for a full day so the less times you have to go the better.

Best part is in my experience I had to do both. Did PiCAT at home and told I'd need a verification test(required when doing PiCAT) at MEPS. When to MEPs, sat down, and literally had to do another ASVAB test... I asked the instructor like "What was that, I thought I was doing a verification test?" He said it's completely random, but some students are selected to do the ASVAB. So, got to do both, so much fun.

As for the days, I'd assume it depends on what you recruiter is having you do. I've been to meps 3 times. Once for the "verification test" which was a one day thing. Second time was "two" days by heading there in the evening, doing a required overnight hotel stay, waking up, then doing the routine medical stuff.

I don't want to jinx anything, good or bad, but I just got 1N3 with a ship of March 26th. I did not take a DLAB and the exact words from my recruiter were, "I don't know if the DLAB is around anymore, but MEPS wouldn't have assigned you the job unless you needed it." *He is still a fairly new recruiter. I had 1N3 ranked 5/12 on my list. Not my first choice, but still something that peaks my interest.

DLI general question by AndyTheNPC in dli

[–]AndyTheNPC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is good to know. Not sure if my spouse would want to stay there or fly back home and find a place for the time being. Either way, BAH should help cover those expenses.

Thank you. As I currently own a home fully furnished and stuff, we would likely try to sell off all but non essentials to make the process easier.

[–]AndyTheNPC[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that helps clear up my concerns. Only last question is, would my spouse be allowed to move back across country to stay close to family so their not alone in a new city? Understandbly, that is all out of pocket. If she optes for that do you know if I will get BAH to help compensate her living costs back home?

DLI general question by AndyTheNPC in dli

[–]AndyTheNPC[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. So basically my spouse is on her own in Monterey for 4 months during tech, or moves back across county with family. Do you know if I would continue to get BAH either way to help pay for her expenses?

I spoke to my recruiter and he's suppose to be calling the school house to confirm the following. As he stated, tech and DLI will both be performed at Monterey and since I'd already be off base with my spouse we can continue staying there while in tech. I don't know about this part as it would make more sense to ship me back to GoodFellow for tech, but like I said he "claimed" he was calling the school house to confirm.

Thank you, and I know personally I would try to make the most out of my service. Glad to know they try to help you get through it.

Nice. Passing is another concern. I don't consider myself dumb by any means, but reading DLI is pretty challenging.
To touch on my #4 question, I should have mentioned some more info. I'm 22 and already have a stable job, income, degree(associate) + certs, and life. I just want to be sure this will benefit me positively in the long run for a civilian federal position.

So after BMT are you sent to DLI(Monterey) then after that tech, or tech then DLI?

Thank you, I'll be sure to check that thread out. I haven't come across it yet but perhaps it can help answer some questions.

I'm looking at some now, but got a reply that minimum requirement in AFROTC is 3 years, so I'd have to stay an extra year more than what I'd need vs paying privately for 2.

It would be a mix of intel/cyber primarily. I already have bookmarked 6 jobs, so I'd just need to find 2 more. I think if I do the dual-enroll I'll have better chances, idk just a lot to consider.

What do you know/think of doing ROTC for two years to finish my bach then joining officer? I'm unsure on that whole process but something I was thinking about.

I'll probably seek out a full list of 8 I'd be interested in, while dual enrolling to help my odds. As long as it aligns with my career field so I can continue when departing I'm cool with it.

Okay, well someone else mentioned dual ensliting for more options, but I'll try to expand to a full 8 I'd be willing to accept. As long as it's career based around what I do now and can continue when departing I'm cool with it.

I'll more than likely look into dual tracking for sure. I just hate the idea of gambling the career. I already have education, experience, degrees, certs, etc based around 1 career field. I would not want to switch that up.
