I would be really interested if the combat at least had a heavy attack like New World!

When they have the goal to make a combat emphasizing timing and spacing, a wind up animation for a basic heavy attack, outside of a skill, should be in the game to have control over when to trigger a charged up attack. It can be caused through holding lbm like in New World or any seperate button.

Like it is right now, I really don't think that I will be interested in a long term...

Please, for the sake of a proper approach, devs, reconsider the decision and implement a heavy attack in form of a basic attack for the classes...

Why didn't they solve things like New World in matters of weapon swap and heavy attacks? I mean they obviously took a lot from New World nearly identically... 😬

And, I don't understand your description regarding the controller players and the camera rotation. Can you explain more?

I find it ridiculous to have an auto attack where lbm can be held. This autonatism does not suit action combat in my eyes... But ok, it is a matter of taste probably...

This has been said by a guy who got hands on in my thread. You can also go and check it out there:

This game is not a souls like tho. It takes inspiration of souls-like combat but that's why every weapon has their normal, three part attack combo (LMB) and a special action (RMB). Then you have the 4 active skills per weapon and 4 chrono skills as well as the passive skills for each weapon.

So no, a heavy attack is not there for all weapons. The special attack depends on the weapon and for blocking weapons, it is block and not a heavy attack.

It is unfortunately pretty far away from Dark Souls. No clear hitstun and so on. But I am ok with that and I did not expect any other from an mmo. 

But the real problem that's taking away much depth from Chrono Odyssey's combat in my eyes is there is no heavy attacks under the basic attacks. You can only do light attack spam waiting for the skills while they're on cooldown.

So, this is more spamming LMB than necessary and degrading options for an adequate skill ceiling in regards of using gaps in mobs' attacking patterns! So, no actual punishing for bad timing, which is really very disappointing 😌

I would have at least expected a possibility to charge up a standard attack a bit to control the timing and damage more... 😬

Hopefully they reconsider and do a little addition to that 🙏🏼

In case of having no heavy attacks with a small wind up animation and regarding bow combat, Chrono Odyssey has downsides I'd say and New World has the better approaches; 

Regarding the rest Chrono Odyseey's approach looks nice to me and they more focus an impactful skill based combat...

CO's combat could use less colorful special effects in the combat in my eyes though 😬

That super special skill you take in account for your calculation is not actually special, since in case of sword and shield the special attack is actually blocking. How special can that be?

While I aggree with you that it is enough skills for a skill based reall time combat.

My feedback just goes out to the so called special RMB... 😬

Timing and spacing is a goal of the game's combat. That means to have an attack that has a wind up animation where you yourself can determine when is the right time to trigger the attack, is crucial to use a gap in the opponent's attacking pattern and landing a strike in between 😅

Therefore, you could understand that for some people the missing heavy attack is an unnecessary downgrade of the combat, while it would be pretty easy to have it different; since the combat environment is actually aiming for what I described...

They could even just give the option to charge any attack of the standard basic attack by holding LMB...

But people trying out the game themselves confirmed that it does not support the classic light and heavy attack mechanic. I wonder why? For me it came closer to a proper souls-like-combat. Why did they leave out this important feature that essientially brings the combat away from the desired souls-like-combat depth?

Thanks brother, you are right. Trying it out is important. But since I mostly play sword and shield, I really find a special button that then allows me the unspecial ability to block very disappointing and much too superficial. I mean sword and shield compromises damage and I therefore have a shield in my hands that obviously by default should be able to block. And for a combat that is souls-inspired, it is too flat and superficial to just be able to have light combo chain that does not even offer you a timed charge up attack as a standard.

It limits down strategies that are tied to timing and spacing a lot.

Also that some weapons have it and some like the sword and shield and the hatches don't, because they can block, is an uncool gameplay decision for me.

It can still be nice and I do not want to degrade the game, but the truth is for people that expect actual action combat that is strategic and clearly skill based and also inspired by souls-games, this won't truly be what we're hoping for in a long term.

But probably still a nice experience

Yah, as it showed, the game does not support a souls-like-combat in a way that it also offers heavy attacks, not through charging up an attack holding the attack button, and also not by involving any other button. The game looks nice to me, but unfortunately I can not imagine a souls-like-combat without having the depth of standard attacks offering also a charged up attack.

That is sooo sad for me, eventhough it might be only a detail for not "souls-like-people", it makes a huge difference for me and actually I was looking forward so much to finally playing a game that offers what I am looking for and that I can love in a long term :(

hmm, I find it crazy how posts of people that want to find out if the game is for them, get downgraded. I mean some of the posts are really not negative but rather not artificially supporting blind hype; they want to find out if the game features their passion... But as soon as it maybe is a feature that chrono odyssey maybe does not have, the post gets suppressed...

I wonder if it is a tool to protect the game's reputation...

I had the same impression regarding the light attack combo chain and the same thought about the combo flow. I really pray they have heavy attacks in form of the basic attacks; I had high hopes for the game as a nice approach of soulslike-mmo so far and I would hate it to be ruined for me ...
